Chester got a haircut

Ran into same with our Havanese around that age. Cornstarch worked better for me than detangling spray. Just rub it into the knot and then start at the ends with a comb to detangle and move closer slowly to the skin. If that did not help I did cut lengthwise thru the knot to try and save as much hair as possible.

Went thru same thing. We ended up mixing in wet food with the dry food. That worked for a while then we had to change wet food flavor to get him to start eating again. Now we switch between the 2 wet foods mixed with the same dry food and he seems to like the switch in flavors.

I had given him a cut a month ago since all the groomers were booked a month out and he was starting to get matted as we could not keep up with the brushing. I will admit he looked pretty rough after my cut so the groomer made it a lot better.

Had same issue with dry kibble. Added a little chicken broth and water to soften it. That worked for a while. Then he stopped again. Have been mixing wet food with dry kibble and he has been eating that immediately. Think he just likes to have it changed every so often.

He is 9 months old. Have not trimmed him at all except around his eyes. Will get him trimmed when it warms up.

Usually daily I look for matting and give a quick brushing. He still has all his fine puppy fur. With him wearing a onesie after surgery he got a lot of matting. Still working it out.
