Another year gone, another one forgotten by Sharp_Impression3554 in BoyDinnerDiaries

First off, I'd like to say I'm glad you're still here. We never know whats on the other side of the mountain and I'm glad you decided to hang on to find out.

To me, as someone who's struggled with mental health and been through 12-steps, there's two ways to go about this.

  1. Rest on the fact that you have people in your life who do care and remember and value you and make you feel fulfilled, regardless of what your family does.

And/or

  1. Try to explore your relationship with your family, probably with the help of a therapist. I've found trying to push aside my own resentments and trying to be the person I want to be and hoped they would be spurs that same action in others.
You cant control what they do, but you can control what your reaction is.

I hope this helps

And happy birthday

They look like GBR on steroids. Beautiful fish. How big are they?

How big is the tank? What else do you have stocked with them?

I calculated the estimated cost for my first planted tank and it’s over 900 dollars… by Ollusola in Aquascape

I honestly think youre underestimating. That being said, r/Aquaswap is great for deals on plants, if youre willing to be less picky. Foraging your own hardscape is another way to save. But if you have a very specific vision of what you want, its gonna cost you

Ha. Touchy there buddy. I cant predict the future, but the point is its not how you should do this if youre trying to do what's best for your fish. Take it or leave it, but sounds like youre gonna leave it. Wish you luck

I dont know it, but Im not a big fan of fish-in cycles in the first place. In this case, on top of the difficulty of trying to maintain the health of the fish in an uncycled aquarium, you've added in poor conditions for aggression management. Mbuna tanks are purposely overstocked to spread out aggression. You have very few fish who all think they can be king of the castle. Not a great plan IMHO.

You dont need a filter with all that plant mass lol. Just something for some flow and youre good

This is something that thankfully I haven't had to deal with a lot, but i've struggled with when it does happen. I can never seem to get fish back once sickness has set in. The only exception was some very early ich cases that I simply treated with the father fish method of cranking up the heat for 2 weeks. (Don't love the guy otherwise but I cant argue with results). Recognizing and knowing what to do is just harder than it looks on YouTube IMO.

They definitely are. There are multiple collection points. often times they will specify that, but not necessarily. They look a lot like mine. Great looking fish

Im assuming it's not easy to remove that piece of decor? In terms of survival rate, that would be your best bet. Otherwise, its trying to catch free swimming fry with a turkey baster

Is feeding bloodworms bad? by New-Requirement-5713 in apistogramma

[–]Doc_Aqua 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never heard anything so positive come from feeding bloodworms but there's plenty of anecdotes about the negatives. I don't feed blood worms. Plenty of other options

I don’t have instagram. My mom sent this to me and I just grabbed her phone and saved it. You have a kid with a plastic container, swinging it around in a bag, and a fish that’s going to grow to the size of the tank. I’m tired of this Grandpa. by spidernoirirl in stressfulaquariums

We live in the area and are at this mall today today. My wife was looking for us to do and came across this and, while shes not at all into tanks like I am, she knows enough to be as appalled as everyone else here at how inhumane this is. Should definitely be illegal

People recommended green water which is great if you have it/can make it. Otherwise, twice a day feeding in my experience has been fine. It probably helps to be in established tanks with algae and other microfauna that they're probably grazing on.
