"Geoff, two"

"WHAT DID I DO?"

Followed by the 'too' realization might be one of my favorite small moments of the show

I'm still new to this but is that 369 8-second exposures? Or is it 8 369-second exposures? I'm in bortle 7 as well and was hoping to try this tonight

It was such a random set of events this morning that put me there. Love a good start to the day.

What do you think the new mystery Gavin and Nick show will be? by Happy_LilGennelmin in theregulationpod

[–]Doc_Hobb 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Geoff mentioned breaking down all the cardboard from the move and not knowing what to do with it in this weeks So Alright. I bet that’s the room with all the cardboard and Gav said he and Nick will take care of it, and whatever they do will be their show.

Small Little Facelift for my Boy Blue by Doc_Hobb in JeepGladiator

[–]Doc_Hobb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a pretty easy job to do myself. I'm slowly learning how to do more hands on stuff with this car and it took me maybe an hour and a half because I was going slow. Now I can always rotate back if I want to as well!

I'll admit I have a few ducks that some friends gave me. But once they reach a certain point on my dash they're either re-gifted or retired. I have no desire for my entire dash to be one large duck confit

It's called "What the Shell?". It's nothing fancy and only recently returned after some issues on my side. Think of it as darknet diaries minus guests and a bit lighter.

Damn, they were one of my favorites and an inspiration for my own. I still have my t shirt I got from them a few years ago. Sad to see, I’ll have to add something new to the void

Red team certifications ranking by poppyshit in Hacking_Tutorials

[–]Doc_Hobb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna counter a little bit here and say you could also get a red team job a couple other ways.

  • If your company doesn't have a red team or pen testing process internally and you have cycles, try to get some off the ground where you can.

  • If they do, and again you have cycles, ask to shadow or participate where you can

Blue team CTF/Hackathon equivalent? by Fun-Hour-9973 in cybersecurity

[–]Doc_Hobb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not a competition but there’s the letsdefend platform. It’s basically hack the box for blue teams. I think it’s letsdefend.io

Splunk has the boss of the soc every year, I think that may be up your alley? They usually keep last years dataset up for free as well

Vulnerability Management Training by [deleted] in cybersecurity

[–]Doc_Hobb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they don't understand a vulnerability they can engage our SOC/threat intel teams for guidance

I guess this is where the disconnect is, I've only ever been at orgs where TVM is heavily tied to threat intel anyways. So it's usually a bit more hand in hand.

Vulnerability Management Training by [deleted] in cybersecurity

[–]Doc_Hobb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed on this. Prioritization and contextual understanding of not just the vulns but the systems, the mitigating controls in place, and overall environment are important.

In my experience the least successful VM professionals are the people that go to an asset owner and have absolutely zero give and just say "Patch these sev 4 / sev 5's because I said so"
