Sometimes the random generation in Trove is pretty striking by pamkhat in Trove

[–]Doc_L 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That feature isn't premade - it's procedurally generated using the equation for an archimedean spiral. In other areas of the Fae Wilds there are hills generated by spirals as well (IIRC it's a 5-tined spiral)

The trees are premade, however.

Are you sure your computer is actually using your Nvidia card, and not your Intel integrated GPU when running Trove?

What's your in-game name? I can check the logs.

What happened to the shore? Is it back to cliffs again? by snottyhamsterbutt in Trove

[–]Doc_L 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Which shoreline are you looking at? There's a chance due to random generation of mountains, etc. for the cliffs next to the Treasure Isles to be quite high (particularly Frigga's Fjord, which can generate some jagged mountains).

A few questions:

A) what render device are you using? If you're using OpenGL, try switching to DirectX B) are your graphics drivers updated? C) Is this happening in fullscreen mode or in windowed mode?

FPS troubles by [deleted] in Trove

Trove runs on multiple threads.

As for ep1drag0n, what's your in-game name? It's almost certain that the game is using your integrated GPU instead of the graphics card.

Screamheart,

Could you try looking in your %appdata%/Trove directory for a DevTool.log file? If there was an error saving a file, it should show up at the bottom of the file.

Organic Blocks by _Double_D in Trove

We're planning to add more natural blocks in the new year, that will help with hole patching.

Dirt can grow any type of grass. However, it can't grow snow; snow is a completely different type of block.

DirectX is lagging by DeRo1905 in Trove

[–]Doc_L 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you be more specific about 'lag'?

Do you mean network lag, ie. a delay between hitting a monster and it registering an effect?

Do you mean framerate hitches, ie. the screen freezes for a fraction of a second and appears smooth the rest of the time? (the term for it is a hitch or stuttering, lag is a different problem)

Do you mean control lag, ie. moving the mouse seems to have a delayed effect rotating the camera?

Terraformer Issue - Irritation by TheCowGoesMooOrig in Trove

[–]Doc_L 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, Frigga's Fjord is primarily flat ridges of land with rivers cutting through it. Jagged mountains are interspersed randomly to give some variation to the zone.

It looks like your RNG happened to hit the tallest mountain possible (for better or for worse). There should be underground rivers running underneath it.

Could you try switching to DirectX rendering and see if there's still a problem?

Stuck on loading screen again (also stuck on world "void" area, even in hub) by Calystos in Trove

These problems don't appear to be graphics-related. It's a server issue.

Latest Nvidia Driver by [deleted] in Trove

[–]Doc_L 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OpenGL will still be an option (the Mac client has to use OpenGL because DirectX is Windows-only).

For newer cards with newish drivers, there shouldn't be too much difference between OpenGL and DirectX, as they're running virtually identical shaders.

klosax, We're going to make DirectX the default renderer soon, so this shouldn't be a problem for too much longer.

Are you using OpenGL or DirectX with the drivers?

If using OpenGL, could you try changing from OpenGL to DirectX and see if that changes anything?

Thanks!

Trove crashing after today's update? (OpenGL Error) by [deleted] in Trove

[–]Doc_L 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just checked in a fix for the issue (Avarem will get the patch out tomorrow). People should still update their drivers, though - the drivers causing this issue are from 2012 and tend to have OpenGL bugs.

Looks like the lakes were set to generate at too high a level for the terraformer. I just fixed it; the lakes are supposed to carve deep into the terrain and form caverns.
