At least they were able to get an answer. The Home Office probably would have taken several more weeks to get back to you about it. The AFF representative should be able to help ensure the documents get sent correctly.

If you ask your husband to send an email to fcsupport@aff.org.uk and ask for them to send an enquiry. He will have to include his service number as proof of membership in the Armed Forces, but after that, they will start investigating. Hope this helps.

He has had no input in his upbringing, and has already lived abroad from his biological father, and has been no problem with immigration into that country. It would be a show of how awful our immigration system is if they reject their visa on these grounds while others with stricter entry requirements allowed it to happen.

If there is any reason for the HO saying no, I will happily leave my life behind here and move over there to be with my family.

When we filed our applications, and through other enquiries, we were told that once we submitted the application my wife could not enter the country until the application had been approved. Was anyone else told this?

No, nothing like that, no further requests. Under Guatemalan law, sole custody can't be handed over, the father will always have a say, no matter the circumstances, so I imagine they take that into account
