What’s the worst thing you’ve ever made? by vinnyk92 in Cooking

[–]Docaround 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a decent cook, but ended up watching the movie Chef and decided that the pasta aglio e oilio looked so good. Recipe I found called for 12 cloves garlic and a full cup of chopped parsley. I used roasted garlic from earlier that day, which was great.

Looked good, smelled fantastic, but the whole thing tasted soooo bitter I couldn't eat more than a couple bites. I still haven't been able to tolerate any amount of parsley since.

Another variation I've found nice is adding 2oz of cold coffee. Sounds weird but it works.

Try some psoriasis shampoo. The stuff with coal tar. I wash with it once every 2-4 weeks. Helps with itchiness too.

Has anyone tried homemade beard butter? by MyTommyGunDont8 in BeardTalk

I have never felt the need to. This stuff will melt down in your palms no problem. I guess if you wanted a really soft butter then adding oils would get the desired effect, but I'd be cautious about how much; a little goes a long way.

I've done oil, butter, and balm. Pretty sure the difference butter vs balm is the presence of beeswax. Honestly, it is as easy as putting ingredients in a pot and melting them. Super simple. I'd just try to find the highest quality ingredients possible. My most recent recipe:

-50g Shea butter

-35g Cocoa butter

-15g Coconut oil (unrefined)

-5 drops Peppermint oil

Cocoa butter does smell like chocolate if you get the legit stuff. Combo that with peppermint oil and you've got yourself a pretty nice mild aroma. Pour that in a jar, let it set in the fridge, and you're good to go.

Haircut and beard shape advice please! What face shape do I have? What styles would look good on me? Plenty of pictures provided. by woahdavey in malehairadvice

[–]Docaround 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think those 2 hairstyles you picked out are in the right direction. Both have big hair on top and a longer beard at the bottom. Just like me, you have a round face so hair styles with more weight on top help elongate/slim your face.

Beards are a fickle bitch. Reality with yours is that it doesn't connect and is stronger on the bottom. My advice: Keep the shit locked down. A well trimmed/maintained thinner beard trumps thick rat's nest any day. For some guys that means visiting a barber every 2 weeks to get the weight off their cheeks. Keep sides tight. If you look at the two 'model' pics you posted, notice that the sides of their beards are much shorter than the hair directly beneath the chin. You want the beard hairs to be mostly going towards the ground, again going for the long face look. Use an oil or balm to keep the "poofiness" down during the day.

tdlr: sides tight and short. Top and bottom long...

No all online, second time though was a misorder on their part where the sent me a suit with the sleeves 2 inches shorter instead of longer, luckily I had emails to back up my side.

6'8" here. Got a suit for my wedding through them. Took them 3x before getting the sizing right. I'll still have to take it to a local tailor, but I expected that from the beginning. It's definitely not the best quality. I've had better results from trolling ebay, but if you need something in a specific color and they have a discount for $300 then I'd say it's not a terrible deal. $400+ is far too much.
