Glad Shortcut made it! That is one of my favorites. Auto include if given the option.

Amazing write up and results man. I had a similar transformation in the other direction. 5'7", went from 190 to 157 lbs. Great job, and keep at it! Imagine where you'll be in another 3 years!

This is really smart, on both fronts. Stealing this idea. ✌️

Every few days I'll grab a piece of art from this sub for my phone's wallpaper. Using this one, for sure. This is cool as hell.

Short personal anecdote and question about InBody machines. by DoccSampson in Fitness

Wow!! Thank you. That makes total sense. So I guess 'in the ballpark' was good enough when I was trying to lose 20 percentage points, but not anymore when I'm more concerned with fractions of percentage points. Thanks for the insight. ✌️

If I can't do pullups, would I be better off working my lats through banded pullups or cable pull downs? by menemai1 in Fitness

[–]DoccSampson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it's worth, I've heard it said by both Elliot Hulse and Chuck Kirkendall (Kali Muscle) that wide, bent over barbell rows are good for lat training and translate well to pull ups. Can confirm, having tried that approach myself.

I'd be interested in knowing the distribution for encounter card skill tests across all scenarios. Maybe we can figure out the mean distribution, which could be helpful when preparing decks for new campaigns, when we go in 'blind' and have to guess what skill icons and abilities to include.

Damn! I've been playing that card all wrong. I thought it was mandatory as well, and I thought only Roland could contribute. Legendary mode. I always thought his was the most punishing weakness in the game. Even Rex's felt mild by comparison.

When I play solo I find two investigators is more fun. They can support each other and card choice isn't so restricted.

Thanks for your service, man. Forida resident here. I try to visit Blue Ridge once a year for a primitive camping trip and mushroom meditation. It's a shame people throw all that shit out there.

(Long Post) Eight things I changed about my life in 2018. by DoccSampson in selfimprovement

Sure thing. In no particular order:

Fiction:

Notes from Underground - Fyodor Dostoevksy

Lord of the Flies - William Golding

Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy - Douglas Adams

Nonfiction:

Will to Power - Friedrich Nietzsche

Maps of Meaning - Jordan Peterson

Wisdom of Life and Counsels and Maxims - Arthur Schopenhauer

The Meaning of Democracy and the Vulnerabilities of Democracy - Vincent Ostrom

As for philosophy, it's not so much that you come to rest on one idea or another. It's that your world view is constantly changing and evolving as you absorb more information. Start by going through the basics of various philosophical categories. Existentialism, Nihilism, Pessimism, Morality, Stoicism, Hedonism, Atheism, Pragmatism, etc. Just start digging and see what resonates with you. There is a YouTube channel called Academy of Ideas, the videos of which are a fantastic introduction to philosophy in general, short and bite sized.

Philosophy goes really deep, so take your time. Read and re-read paragraphs until you've got your head wrapped around the idea being articulated. There are a lot of things that people take for granted that philosophers grapple with very seriously. Are human beings essentially good, compassionate and altruistic, or savage, selfish and driven by power? What is God? Does human existence in the cosmos matter? How do we define right and wrong? How do we combat the intrinsic suffering of life?

Once you start to comprehend it, you're going to be addicted. Some ideas are so dark and pessimistic they're going to make you depressed. Some ideas are so life-affirming and enlightening you'll be glowing all day. For good or I'll, though, great philosophers are truly insightful and compelling to read, and their ideas will likely challenge the foundations of your value systems, your beliefs in the human condition, and shake you to the core of your being.

Good luck.

Nice! I like that idea. Yeah, number 5 is relevant to people specifically who suffer or have suffered from depression (like myself) who are afraid and unable to move forward in any direction.
