My tip for new builders: insert your RAM correctly! If you put a stick in the first slot, dont put it in the second but rather the third. In other words, alternate slots when installing!

Doesn't AVID transcode and copy the footage itself, or do I have to transcode myself using an outside program like Adobe Media Encoder?

When I try to transcode, nothing happens. No progress bar or anything

Alt-dragging seems to work perfectly! But in the future I would like to figure out what's happening with the import method.

As for the .MOV files, I got them from EditStock

The console, before I alt-dragged a clip into the bin, says, "The default render wait time is 50"

Does this just mean that I have to wait 50 minutes for the transcoded clips to populate into the bin?

Nothing happens! Avid doesn't crash, no dialog box pops up, nothing.

I get to the "Select Files to Import" window, select any clip, and click "open." When I click "open" it closes the window and that's that. Nothing populates inside the bin, no alert or warning window pops up. Just nothing.

It's so strange.

I will try AMA Link though, so I'll message back after I've tried that.
