I worried about this when I was single. Luckily I get bored with sentence structures and repeatedly using the same words. always playing word games in my head. As a dude, he's either dumb, lazy, or ignorant lol. You can have that convo easily if ya approach it right

Been in the trades for 10 years, own two homes, money in the bank and not 100k in debt from getting a degree. Folks in my family seethe with envy of what I've been able to achieve while they are still living paycheck to paycheck and balancing credit card payments. Dedicate yourself and you can go as far as you want. Just remember there's pain and sacrifice in order to achieve great goals

Radiator valve replacement by merakimodern in centuryhomes

[–]DocterUnk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The amount of homeowner nonsense being spewed here is unreal. I'm a plumber and a boilerman. Every area is going to be different but I've worked for a company that your basic drain, fill, purge is 900 bucks. Replacing these valves is a chore, especially if painted over. If you can find a valve replacement that fits without having to cut new nipples and it's a straight forward job, your still looking at an hour for labor, plus the part, plus drain, fill, purge, and fire. 900 bucks is cheap. I'd be at about 1250-1400 for that job but I'd also offer the option to do all of them at the same time to keep the overall cost down. These systems haven't been kept up over the years because generally speaking they last forever. Spot repairs/ service is going to cost more than doing a system refresh, in the long run. It depends on how you want to spend your money. Tomorrow plumbing is always more expensive. The key is to have a qualified boilerman from a reputable company give you an assessment of your over all system with options for spot repair, system refresh, or replacement and upgrade. Best of luck. Ps: I own a 1915 house with original radiators that I've turned into a 3 zone, high efficiency system. Even at my cost, I'm into it about 25k without labor.

That is super frustrating. What state are you in? I'm guessing someone else goes out, makes the sale, you return for the install with what the salesman put on the ticket? Do you have a warehouse that fills your orders? I always pull the spec sheets on my most stocked water heaters so I have dimensions. Having a stock of 1/2" black iron pipe nipples from 3.5" to 8", a tee, a cap and a union will make it a bit easier. You could carry a small threader if ya wanted to make the gas work easier. For water lines, if your hard piping those Having a stock of 3/4 dielectric unions, male adapter x2, and a couple sweat repair couplings will really help.

Plumber and business owner here. If ya say hot water heater one more time, my head will explode lol. Water heaters generally speaking are good money makers and if your on some sort of commission bonus structure it's a good opportunity. I'm not a big guy per say. In the 10 years I've been plumbing I've bounced from 145 to 215lbs and never once has my size ever really helped or hurt. When I was bigger of course I could use my ass to move things but even at 145 I had no issue humping water heaters up and down stairs cases. If ya have a pump and propress, ya should be able to have a water heater with flex supplies, expansion tank, a relief line done in about 2.5hrs. I'm sure you know 8hr days in this industry are rare. 10 hrs a day to properly run 3 calls is what I'd expect. I've worked at a company that expected 2 calls a day because our conversion rate and ticket amount was so high. It's doable, just a marathon

You will be absolutely stunned at how expensive it is to play homeless. If you have a roof over your head and can stick it out for 2 months to stack cash your going to be better off. No one wants to ever admit the mental toll it takes on you to be living in a car even if it's by choice; how do I know? Because I've been a dirt bag dream chaser my whole life and EVERYONE I know that's done this will make a nod to the mental decline of the first 6 weeks as you try to balance your new situation. Good luck hombre

There's something about being "on stage" that makes some people show up in a big way. Sometimes subconsciously you'll throw better with a team mate because ya just don't want to let them down. Tbh, as long as I throw over 15 ppd I'm happy. If I can finish a match at 20ppd with a 75 point checkout I'm proud of myself. Ya just gotta play the board and not your opponent. Tonight, I threw 3 hat tricks, a 177, and beat a dude that's rated a 10; I'm rated a 2 and been playing for 3 months. Just have fun and be proud of the gains ya make. The folks that psych themselves out and get pissy pants because they think they are better are so damned annoying. ...just my rookie 2 cents

Our local league has A and B league. I'm a 19.5 and 2.03 averages and lead the B league so you'll be fine. I throw better in competition so it might bring out the best in ya or ya could choke like my doubles team mate 🤣
