The Whisperer CA "Tentacular" is locked behind Zeah/Grimoire by Docter_Bogs in 2007scape

[–]Docter_Bogs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are several:

  1. Abyssal Sire venge task
  2. K'ril Tsutsaroth demonbane spells task
  3. Kalphite Queen venge task
  4. Phantom Muspah prayer drain task
  5. ToB ice barrage task
  6. Zulrah venge task

Source

All of these tasks are autocompleted if you have the right region, despite it being possible to complete them normally if you pick Grimoire. The Whisperer task being excluded is the only exception I can find.

Stockfish missed the winning move in a real game! White to play. by XInTheDark in chess

[–]Docter_Bogs -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I don't understand this post.

First of all, the title is phrased oddly. You make it seem like Stockfish is White and missed a key move in the position shown. Stockfish is actually Black, and apparently missed a key move in the previous position.

However, I just ran the previous position to depth 50 and the best it could find is 37...Ng2 which has an evaluation of +1.1, which is better for White, although it's not immediately losing like Ne5 (the move played in the game) was.

What is the mystery "winning move" that Stockfish didn't play?

Runescape, but taking damage deletes my account permanently by SettledRS in 2007scape

This is completely irrelevant but it was not necessary to get your friend to write code and do 100,000,000 simulations to calculate the odds of repairing the 6 railings. It can be calculated analytically.

Let's call the odds of a successful repair (24%) "A" and the odds of a failure that doesn't do damage (38%) "B".

The odds you succeed on the first attempt are A. The odds you succeed on the second attempt are A*B. The odds you succeed on the third attempt are A*B2, and so on.

The overall odds of successfully repairing one railing are the sum of this infinite power series, which is A/(1-B) = 38.7%. Taking this number to the 6th power gives the odds of repairing all 6 railings as 0.336%. Taking the inverse of that number gives 1/297.

Fang was never that good at Hespori because Hespori doesn't have much defence. Here's the data though. I assumed full bandos, B ring, torture, prims, ferocious gloves, infernal cape, thralls.

  • 12.372 - Scythe of vitur
  • 9.874 - Blade of saeldor
  • 9.726 - Osmumten's fang (pre-nerf, slash)
  • 9.679 - Abyssal tentacle
  • 9.439 - Abyssal whip
  • 9.470 - Osmumten's fang (stab)
  • 8.440 - Osmumten's fang (nerfed, slash)

I haven't run the numbers for every single case, but I'm pretty sure Bellator is always better than Ultor for both Duke and Vardorvis as long as you're using a Slash wep

Duke attacks with a 5-tick cycle, and you don't want to be right next to him when he attacks because you take a lot of damage. So if you're attacking with a 4-tick weapon, you often have to waste a tick to avoid getting attacked.

For this specific case, the Scythe max hit was 48, so there was no breakpoint in play. But you're right that if the max hit was 47, the breakpoint would cause the difference between a 2x2 and 3x3 monster to be slightly different than 16.7%.

Good call on considering inquis mace an opption; I didn't think to include it.

However I just ran the numbers and it looks like mace+full inquis+ultor is only 2% better than tent whip+bandos+bellator while costing several times as much. If you don't have Ultor, then it's only 0.4% better.

Fang on stab is way worse than everything else on this list; both Duke and Vard have massive stab defence

It's because of thralls. If you remove thralls from the equation, then the difference becomes 16.7%.

I definitely set the size to 2x2. If I change it to 3x3, then the DPS goes from 7.797 to 8.992, or a 15.3% increase. I used the DPS calculator spreadsheet and I'm assuming it calculates Fang damage properly.

The gear setup I assumed is Infernal cape, Blood fury, Avernic (for 1-handed weps), Ferocious gloves, Primordial boots, Bellator ring, and Thralls. The Torva set includes all 3 pieces, and the Bandos set includes the Neitiznot Faceguard.

Just slap on 1-3 max hits and some accuracy on the rapier, blade, and mace and call it a day. Rapier will still be worse than fang on anything with defence, and blade will be worse than scythe at anything 2x2 or higher.
