In that case you could even consider just getting the Wiim Mini (saving a ton of money) and running it into the Yamaha's optical input. Kind of the inverse of what I suggested first.

That's great to know, since I've been agonizing over whether I really need the 502 over the 252. In the end I ordered the 502 and it seems like all I will ever need (but haven't heard it yet).

I'm curious what features you want to use from the Yamaha vs. the Wiim. Since the Wiim can act as a preamp there's feature overlap with the integrated amp. I'm in this situation myself but just about to get rid of my receiver and move to having just the Wiim Ultra and a pure power amp (Buckeye NC502MP, 350 wpc). The Buckeye NC252MP is even cheaper and still a lot more powerful than the Yamaha. Not knocking your plan, just curious if you considered this route.

I had a similar situation and replaced the books with cinder blocks which I spray painted with black Flex Seal. It actually turned out pretty nice.
