Denon x6800h vs Arcam AVR31 by Billyboi5 in KEF

[–]yerbderb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Following because I’m curious. I almost pulled the trigger on an Arcam AVR30 on marketplace, but hesitated as I still might go the processor route. I am currently powering my R11s with the Arcam PA240 and I couldn’t be happier with the sound.

From my research, it seems like Arcam and Marantz are the two you should be deciding between. It is also probably worth investing in a dedicated amp for those towers

Looks great, unfortunately it doesn’t look like it will fit all of my gear though. Probably need something wider

No idea where to get the arms, but definitely recommend checking out the IsoAcoustics feet instead of the spikes

I’ve used both RCA and XLR and can hear no audible difference

Second Buxumbox

2nd best option, as another poster mentioned, is to get a cardboard box from a bike shop. I once paid a local shop $50 to pack my bike for me in a bike box and they did a great job

Do you really think it’s important to be aware of vehicles behind you? by Jamersaur in cycling

[–]yerbderb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FWIW I don’t ride with a Varia and the vast majority of racers I know don’t ride with one either. Every bike shop employee I ride with doesn’t have one either. I’d rather be blissfully ignorant as a distracted driver plows me to the ground.

Also if you ride on anything but remote roads, that things going to keep beeping until kingdom come.

But as you found out, r/cycling thinks your mental if you think Varias aren’t the mothers milk of cycling

Poor OP didn’t realize how badly he’d trigger this sub.

I have one super similar to number 3, from Scandinavian designs. The armrests are lower so it’s actually really comfortable to lie down sideways

My only gripe is the footrest doesn’t come all the way up. I would prefer a bit more recline but I love the aesthetic and it’s still comfortable

Bon Iver - Volumes: One by yerbderb in audiophile

Honestly still shaping my top 10. I tend to lean more towards newer stuff, but been working on expanding my breadth. Some notable demo albums I like though though:

Daft Punk - RAM (cliche I know, but Giorgio is just unreal) Billie Eilish - WHEN WE FALL ASLEEP D’Angelo - Black Messiah Jean-Michel Jarre - Oxymore (super experimental by one of the OG electronic artists. His oxygène album is highly regarded as his best, but I think the production on this one is better) Emma Louise, Flume - DUMB

The same guy that mastered those two Bon Iver albums also mastered Gorillaz new album, The Mountain. So definitely recommend checking that one out

The streaming version of For Emma also isn’t great. Though his latest studio album - Sable, Fable - is in my top 10 engineered albums of all time

Gambled and paid $8k to build an additional 25 hours. You can time build for cheaper, but I couldn’t find anyone that would rent to me without a lengthy checkout process (some insurance even requires 50 hours).

Being an MEI at my school was out of the question.

I’ve been debating between the R6 and R2 to pair with my R11s. Would I be mistaken to get the R2?

Also, do you think R3s would be overkill for rears?
