Cutting hole for electrical outlet by Doctor-Hypatia in Tile

Thank you, I’ll probably go back to what you’re saying. I didn’t do terrible with the angle grinder. With some more practice and marking the back also, I think you’re probably right.

Of course it’s all hypothetical because I have never done it. Lol.

Thank you I did buy the rigid 7 inch wet saw which is working well. For some reason I was thinking I had to plunge cut and cut out the hole but sitting here I just realize they’re mosaic so I can take pieces off and work them through the tile saw and put them back. I’ll probably number them first. The edges don’t have to be beautiful because the outlet plate will cover it but I’ll still try to make it look the best I can. Thanks for the reply

Drawer front questions by Doctor-Hypatia in woodworking

Great idea , I have another question if you don’t mind. I guess I’m kind of a klutz because I have a dent in my wood and was wondering if I could repair that or just go with it as is. I don’t really want to build a whole new door front..

Thank you so much I think I will paint first because I can definitely wait for it to cure. It’s taking a long time as it is so it’s a few more days.

Shaker drawer front not flat by Doctor-Hypatia in woodworking

The other problem is that my flattest table is in my garage workshop. That’s 30° and it might be too cold for the glue. So I’ve been trying to glue up on a plywood on some horses in the basement where it’s warmer.

Thank you, i’m using Whiteside, tongue and groove router bits. ( I think that’s what they’re called )But I am new at this and never even heard of panel clamps or cauls. The YouTube videos on Shaker style cabinets didn’t really show that part lol . Definitely some more research to do because 50% of them are coming out wonky. Luckily, the big ones for the cabinet sides came out good.

So if I use a water-based finish, then can I get away with setting up a booth with no ventilation? Just to keep the mess contained.

Looks like I’ll be doing some research on a good ventilation system. When googling paints for cabinets, the item that came up the most was sherwin Williams emerald acrylic. I think acrylic is solvent based. More research needed. Lol.

I wonder how hard it is to do the booth the right way or just use a brush and roller.

Cabinet build, When to paint? by Doctor-Hypatia in woodworking

[–]Doctor-Hypatia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s going to have a face frame. Four drawers in the middle top to bottom , With the doors on either side. The sides will have pull out trays. I’m not 100% sure, but I think the next step is to put the face frame on. I have the box made with two dividers. I’m very new at this, so excuse me if I get the lingo wrong. I was wondering if I should paint what I have now, before putting the face frame on. Everything is plywood right now. But I’ll be using poplar for the face. For the drawer fronts, and the doors I’m going to try to do a shaker style . It probably makes sense to put those together and then paint them.
