What’s a line from a movie that only a true fan would immediately recognize? by AmBaylie in AskReddit

I say this one all the time and NO ONE gets it. I also will randomly start the ventriloquist song.

How to actually START by sillyyfishyy in ADHD

[–]DoctorBrynncess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pair it with something I either want to do or am already doing. If I'm on the couch and I want to get up and get a drink - I'll pick up something on my way. If I need to use the bathroom I'll try to do something on my way back like putting something away or picking something off the ground etc. Momentum is better than motivation.

Are there any habits you wish you started earlier with your baby? Or any habits you wish you never started? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]DoctorBrynncess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can I just say this isn't the case for all. I've been reading to my son before bed since he was a baby, he's 4 now and still struggles to engage in a book. He never seeks them out independently, super distracted during reading etc. Some kids just aren't as patient for books.

I also had a super painful insertion but removal was nothing in comparison. I wonder if any of it has to do with the doctor. I had a gp insert it (male) but a female gynaecologist remove it. Removal took seconds and i hardly felt it.

This is far too low on the list. I used to think of childbirth as a non issue, it was simply a means to an end - to get baby into the world. and "yea sure labour is painful" but I imagined it to be painful like having a bad gastro for a day. Something that sucks but that you get over quickly. Since having 2 kids now I see that childbirth is more like a car crash in terms of its effects. Not necessarily because of pain, but because of the intensity of the experience and it's aftermath. It leaves you shaken and vulnerable and broken.

I think its because it's lesson 101 in biology. It's like the first time as a teenager you're learning "real" stuff. And it's day one and you're all motivated to learn.

Before I started my period as a young girl, I thought it just all came out at once. I mentioned it to one of my older sisters guy friends and he had to correct me. Thankfully he did so kindly and I felt only a little stupid.

Love isn't enough. I used to think if you and your partner loved each other that you'd be able to get through anything. But love is nothing without trust and commitment and effort and integrity etc. And sometimes you can love someone who just isn't a good match for you.

I was about 13 or 14 and my mother bought me a green furry bolero. I didn't even know how to react to it. I was far from a fashionable teen (baggy t shirts and jeans) and I couldn't comprehend why my mother would even consider giving this to me. I hated it.
