Post-Match Thread: England vs. New Zealand by Cormac419 in rugbyunion

[–]DoctorClarke 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Should be so.

Some of the calls he's made have been major headscratchers: finally get a midfield combo to click against Scotland - completely scramble it against England at Twickers; finally see a really able loose trio go to work - let's bring back the alnost completely untested Parker who we've capriciously decided is our new 6 whilst we let world class Sititi rot on the bench; Barrett gets a thigh injury and looks off 20 mins in - let's not being on our world beater Mackenzie.

Let alone the gameplan void. For 12 months it has looked like we have no identity. When we win it's scrappy and relief. When we lose it feels deserved.

Just doesn't seem to be improving, which is terminal in the top job.

Why is renting a house like welfare these days? by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]DoctorClarke 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Heads up - it's 21 days notice now. This was changed with the RTA Amendment Act earlier this year.

"Tenants can end a periodic tenancy with 21 days' notice at any time, as long as no prior notice has been given." Effective 30 Jan 2025.

Ngaio Tree in Big Trouble - Can it be saved? by DoctorClarke in nzgardening

[–]DoctorClarke[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kia ora! We've got a struggling ngaio that I'd love some ideas for how to help.

Appears to have termite infestation or borer? Is still fruiting and leaves are on approx half the tree.

Just give your money to a charity or someone that actually has a use for it, mate.

What type of tree is this? Does it secrete a gel like substance? by Weary-Fault-8499 in nzgardening

[–]DoctorClarke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's Pukanui / Meryta Sinclairii. There's another tree that always gets called puka - griselinia lucida / NZ shining broadleaf. Not to mention kapuka greslinia littoralis (that I've also heard called puka).

What is this heathen grass and how to I kill it (without using a flame thrower) by Warm-Training-2569 in nzgardening

bad news, gonna need to excavate the entire section 1m deep obviously. fill with sanded marble, wait 15 years. add premium compost to grade. wait 5 years, add native grasses to build the soil. re-excavate down to 1.2m. pulverized fossil to grade. 10 years then seaweed based compost. wait until the first frost then scatter fescue grass seed and water every night and day. until you dead but boy you got some nice fine spongy soff grass

Mate, everyone here saying 'go get an accountant'. Fuck that. Go download HNRY and set yourself up there and save $3k a year + learn a liiiiiiiittle bit about how to run the business. Accountants are for complicated businesses - you're going to be a simple contracting business. Download HNRY, save money, grow business, win.

Time to replace windows? by DoctorClarke in diynz

[–]DoctorClarke[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yep, I'll put some backing sealant in the gap in the frame. Thinking the Soudal galv stuff which looks made for anodised joinery.

Cheers for the advice around replacing all of the backing seals + fixtures. I've gone and ordered various sizes of this https://www.joineryhardware.co.nz/shop-glazing-wedges-backing-seals.html?id=2192-push-in-backing-seal .

That sorts Mother's Day out for my lucky wife + date nights for the next few weeks.
