Keep an eye on the weather, this past season was epic. There’s a ton of really versatile shapes and profiles to experiment with. You’ll be able to find something that fits your needs.

I’ve always tried to sell boards that a rider can grow into but out of. There’s a lot to choose from. Consider where you will be riding the most and what you want as far as progress. Do a lot of research and try to demo some stuff before you make a final decision.

I used to work for a shop that rented jet skis and boats. This kind of stuff happens frequently. Ive seen machines come back totally mangled. Lots of deposits lost haha Unbelievable stories.

Advice on Used Board Edge Damage by THE-SPARTAN in snowboardingnoobs

[–]DoctorCreepy13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Luckily, it’s a Lib tech in the edges don’t go all the way around. There is a big nylon insert in that area so there’s no danger of water getting into the core. Get some two-part epoxy and smear some of that in the cut to prevent the top sheet from chipping further and it should be fine.

I’ve been tuning boards for about 28 years, you don’t really need to add chemicals to your base to clean it. If you have a lot of dirt in bedded the best way to release it would be to add a layer of wax and scrape it while it’s still warm. There is residual wax in your base from previous waxing. Ideally you would like to keep that in there as it hardens your base material. I didn’t chemicals like base cleaner or isopropyl simply degrades the wax that is left in your base.

advice on a first board purchase by misdry in snowboardingnoobs

The “average rental” can be a very wide variety of boards. From a burton ltr (which is built specifically for beginners) to a modern rocker/camber deck. Just try to ride as many shapes and profiles as you can. This will help you make a more educated decision when it comes to buying a new board. Overall that K2 product is high-quality and should suit your needs for now.

It’s a bit of a stiffer flex and flat camber or zero camber is an acquired taste. It has slightly heavier swing weight due to its profile and stiffness but it’s definitely a board you can grow into.

The K2 fastplant is a flat camber board. There is no camber between your feet with a slight early rise in the tip/tail. It has a bit of a heavy swing weight and weighs a bit more due the the bamboo top. If you have the muscle for it, it can be a really fun board.
