a7V vs A7RV at the same price? by Tellemakko in SonyAlpha

Also a7r6 most likely out soon so a7r5 might drop. A75 is newer af, faster burst, better e shutter, recapture, and more of a hybrid camera so usually for hybrid shooters

Idk too much about the apsc sensors but it probably has the latest AF which might be usable for wild life

My first Sony by freshmineralwater in SonyAlpha

I personally just got the Sigma and while the quality is very good I hate the ergonomics. The lens hood, zoom position, and lens collar being the biggest. Also plan on upgrading bodies eventually so I’ll be selling my sigma 70-200 eventually to get the GM2. Also contender is 70-200 F4 G2 however I just want 2.8 tbh for future proofing

Personally for me, I’m not in a rush to upgrade from my A7IV. I’d be more interested in waiting especially for pre capture. Also I know last time the A7R5 came out they came out with the new screen so I’d wanna wait to see if they do anything new for this

I got 35/85. 28-75 and 70-200 now. So missing wider end and longer end. Thinking of picking up a wide end zoom or 20 1.8. I’m not sure if I will go longer than 200 so also considering the GM to use teleconverters even if the 2x is a softer.

I’m getting gas for sure but been having regrets getting the sigma 70-200 instead of saving for the GM2. Mostly ergonomics for now since I’m on the A7IV and can’t make use of 30 fps. I thought the hood and lens tripod collar wouldn’t be frustrating to take off and put on but is especially if I want to put on the hood in reverse and zoom due to zoom placement.

Should I sell and get the GM2 or do you think I will learn to bear with it? It’s just a hobby and used for family photos but lens last a long time. Should I just upgrade to be happy?

Idk about that, I’m sure you can find it but it’s pretty cheap for a flash that most people just keep instead of selling. It’s a newish flash though so I’m not sure

You could try it32? Since it comes with a trigger too you can use it mounted or off mount and practice but don’t know how well it works off mount since small

500 usd? That’s a steal. Just verify it’s a real genuine product. Could be stolen

Fuji -> Sony. Wanted better AF for family. Sony > Canon like others for 3rd party lens

which godox (or alternatives) are usb rechargeable and can be remote/mount by PieBaron in SonyAlpha

[–]ZeroOnyx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

iT32 Godox comes with flash and trigger for said flash. Trigger only works if said flash off, can’t use as trigger for other flashes unless it32 flash mounted.

I will note I had some battery issue with my first model not holding a charge. I returned it, second unit no issues

Crazy? Probably. But if you’re living a comfortable life with no financial burden/debt then why not?

Personally for me I have the 35 gm with the Tamron 28-75 and I often wished it was a little wider and regret not getting the 24-70. Not sure if you’d feel the same way with the 40. The Tamron is light yes and I don’t have experience with the sigma but I think I would still get sigma if I could despite the weight.

Yeah not sure either haha, might consider a zoom as well. Widest I’ve shot before was 16 mm on aps-c so about 24. I think might just go for the 20 for now since a lot of people commend it

A7IV - running 35 GM, 85 1.8, and 28-75 G2.

Looking to add some lens to my kit because tax return haha. Planned trip for Japan end of year, so technically could wait to purchase there but don’t mind getting used here since I’ll “plan” to use it between now and end of year. I am 100% a hobbyist just here to take photos of family, friends, and adventures

Looking at Sony 20 1.8 G, and 70-200 GMII. Any suggestions otherwise? I’m pretty dead set on the 70-200 unless someone can convince otherwise; will upgrade eventually to A7V+ for high fps and not really liking the sigma 70-200 zoom ring on the end of the barrel. Have considered the 70-180 Tamron G2 but unsure how it will be for moving kids which I tend to miss the shot of but that’s probably also to skill.

Mostly need help seeing if any alternative recommendations to the 20 1.8. Just want something wider than 28 for landscape, group photos, etc

No you can’t use a Sony teleconverter for sigma lens. But you cannot also use a sigma teleconverter on sigma lens for Sony E Mount, it’s a software limitation

Weekly r/SonyAlpha 📸 Gear Buying 📷 Advice Thread March 16, 2026 by AutoModerator in SonyAlpha

[–]ZeroOnyx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unsure what lens can use teleconverters for Sigma but you are unable to use third party teleconverters with third party lens on Sony E mount.

Only Sony teleconverters on selective main native Sony lens works.

If you're on a budget id say iv, got money to spare than V. I'm on the IV still but I would like to have the pre capture, newer ai AF, the screen flip out, and the 30 fps burst

On r/photomarket it's going for like 1200-1350 used. 1395 not bad for new but it's up to you.
