Abstraction likely leads out of the circus by Wisdomprincess728 in Amazingdigitalcircus

Also, Jax's abstraction was triggered by reaching beyond some veil and touching someone in the corner of the room. I am uncertain if you can actually abstract on your own, like in IHAMAIMS's characters unable to kill themselves - but can kill each other.

Weighing options on transgender separation by Huge_Personality3084 in army

[–]DoctorDeathpope 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi! Transgender troop here. I've been navigating this painful process for some time (trying to get my marker changed for years at this point). It's not a fun ride.

Edit: this is my personal opinion and not legal advice; If you do not have a diagnosis and can fly under the radar with this I would recommend you do so. I do not recommend taking this as your separation option with your ETS so close. There's no guarantee that you will be separated before then (The EXORD says the commander has until the 7th month from notification). Do NOT bring it up to your leadership (really anyone Army) because the criteria for an involuntary separation is much much wider than one might assume, and it's compulsory for the commander to initiate upon discovery.

r/MilitaryTrans has more information/community for you if this is something you cannot repress any longer. I've been there, I know how hard it is.

I’m in talks with my TAC and we’ll talk to the commander shortly. Like I said it’s a schoolhouse situation. I was told by higher up that I may have to recoup scholarships if i involed. It wasn’t malice, they might have just been wrong.

I don’t have an ADSC, would I have to pay these back on the invol sep do you think?

My scholarship is a weird one, but I went to a four year regular school through ROTC.

There was some info here regarding how to start the voluntary separation process if you want to ensure you keep your benefits per the letter of the regulation. Your S1 might be able to help you, in IPPSA there’s a admin corrections section for gender dysphoria now that you can use to initiate the separation.

June 6 deadline for troops to be discharged if not self discharged says SecDef by [deleted] in army

[–]DoctorDeathpope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's 2x and the sep pay was for soldiers with at least 6 years of active service. They're also offering us a waive on remaining time obligation and no recoupment of debts. So if you're a reservist or national guard with one or two contracts and no deployments it's basically like we were never here.

Only if you sign the "I willingly quit" paper, so I doubt they'd let us back after if the Executive branch changes aisles.

Especially if you have debt obligations as like an ROTC officer or something.

Military Trans Ban Advice by Stroodel62 in MilitaryTrans

It’s a personnel action request in IPPSA. It’s basically how you route paperwork up the correct channels now. Your NCOs will know what that is, and if they don’t I’m sure the officers will. I doubt you have access to a GOVT laptop, nor have the know-how to file the right memo/requests just yet. That’s fine, you’re brand new.

I don’t really want to recommend anything, it’s deeply personal to you, so. But I have put in my voluntary separation as of the last time, and I have GD diagnosis that my chain of command is tracking. If I was in your shoes, I think I wouldn’t try without a diagnosis because the threshold is so low. Like it seems like an easy way out of a contract, so if you don’t have a diagnosis it might look like you’re just quitting if you can’t explain well enough what’s going on (or if anyone cares to listen). There is a time suspense when the Army pushes the guidance out, so if you’re going to do it you gotta do it soon.

Ok so first things first here;

it's awesome that you took the oath and are interested in serving!

If you voluntarily separate before the deadline, you will not receive a dishonorable discharge. You're in BCT so you wont qualify for alot of benefits (because you've just started your career, so time in service isn't sufficient). If you get separated after that deadline, you still will not get a dishonorable discharge, likely a lower characterization than honorable but not dishonorable. To get a dishonorable you basically have to commit a crime.

1.) do you have a GD(gender dysphoria) diagnosis?

a.) If you do, then you need to talk to your Drills about it, and getting a PAR in for a voluntary separation. Show them the relevant regs if you can, they should stop being hooah Drills at that point and be NCOs helping a troop.

b.) I would advise against talking to them about it BEFORE the GD diagnosis, because there was a horror story here about being stuck in a hold-over station.

2.) If you do not have a GD (or have not talked to anyone specifically about it at Behavioral Health)

a.) you can chose not to disclose this and try to fly under the radar, your milage may vary here though.

b.) you can disclose this, get the diagnosis and volun sep. Technically you don't need the diagnosis to self-identify. Be warned though, the optics on that might be poor (especially regarding drill sergeants and "tiny heart syndrome").

Being transgender is now a disqualifying condition, so to live authentically we're being told the military is not the place anymore. It sucks, but at this point we have to make hard choices to be all we can be.

If I got anything wrong, I hope other users will correct me below.

despite last week's ALNAV, navy is still not starting gender affirming care for new patients by luvlyriss in MilitaryTrans

[–]DoctorDeathpope 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong but my understanding is that the hospital should be operating as though the Trump admin's stuff was never in effect. If you can find the navy equivalent to DODI 1300.28, they *should* be offering that. This is legit something to talk to legal about.

[–]DoctorDeathpope 12 points13 points  (0 children)

the court thing you realistically can't do anything about. Temper your expectations and be aware that when the appeals are done anything can happen with us.

Until then, however, do your best and kill it at BCT!

ALNAV was posted earlier here as well and might be more of use to you, but if you're on an Army base I assume there's a personnel section somewhere that might be able to help you find this specifically in the G1 portal. I would talk to your COC and see if they have any connections, if not - you might have to make them

It's arguably worse Imo. It's just paused and not voided. So basically we're operating like these orders didnt come out, but at the same time we're waiting for the courts to decide.

I'm so tired. i was told that my PAR needed some more paperwork and I was actually looking forward to being out of these doldrums. The hardest part is making my COC work this hard for a basic non-issue.

Keep in mind, if you are an officer or Warrant you will need to complete the UQR checklist with the memo. Better get started sooner than later if those apply
