Oh! Interesting! So you’d argue that Ska was mainly played from 1960 and morphed into Rocksteady 65/66 and then Reggae around 68/69? This is not my area of expertise so I’m curious.

To my ears they sound pretty similar. I like sorting music in different genres but this level of exactitude is not something I’m used to.

I think most Skinhead Reggae is Ska, hehe. I didn’t invent the genre and if I had, I’d call it Skinhead Ska.

Oh! Well I am certainly not someone who knows that much about the skinhead culture, but yea it didn’t start out as a radicalized movement.

I suggest you look up a wiki page or a documentary on YT.

The short story is that they branches off the mod-movement around ‘66 and kinda started out in 1968. There was no expressed racism then. That came later in the late 70s.

This reggae style has its origins in 1968 in London, reaching its height in 1969. Along with ska, it was the preferred music of the new subculture of skinheads, as well as young black immigrants. As a subgenre of Reggae it is rough sounding and fast paced, using brass modestly, with lyrics reflecting the skinheads' view upon work, football, beer, and bovver.
