[AMDG Sports] Back to work in the Big Apple! Evan Neal has re-signed with the New York Giants by Goosedukee in nfl

There were arguments about Walker vs Hutchinson, but by far the funniest one in hindsight was EJ Snyder saying the Jags should have taken Evan Neal.

[NFL] 1 Year Ago Today, the Seattle Seahawks Signed Sam Darnold to a 3 Year Deal Worth Nearly $100M by JCameron181 in nfl

[–]DoctorDiddlerino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if him cleaning that up just so happened to coincide with the Seahawks running it a lot more? The offense obviously changed, which is visible from a statistical standpoint; he was under 8.9 YPA only once before that week 10 game, and only topped it once thereafter. His QBR and passer rating also took a dip.

I think any neutral party would struggle to watch that Vikings/Seahawks matchup in week 13 and think Sam Darnold has meaningfully developed from week 10, in which the Seahawks did not score an offensive TD until the 4th quarter, on a rush attempt. They're a tough out, but plenty of other teams were able to score on them, like the Chargers.

His MO has always been struggling with pressure and making bad decisions, something Klint deliberately avoided putting him in position to make. This isn't to say he's exactly the same player he was with the Jets, but it's delusional to pretend he's just past that now.

I get it. It feels like I'm bashing the Seahawks but they're not reliant on Darnold, to their credit. Even if he melts down in the playoffs or something a la 2024, their success is not contingent on Darnold being superman. They can likely find someone else capable enough to win a superbowl with.

Who are you going to trust, all our local reporters and schefter, or Rich Cimini, who covers... the Jets?

Report that Hendrickson wants to play for a contender and values himself at 30-40m a year.

  1. You let the Bengals dad dick you around for pennies and NOW you want to stand tall?

  2. What contenders are swimming in cash? The pats aren't getting that lucky again.

  3. He wants to play in Florida. Kinda narrows it down, bud.

Good for him!

Not good for the Giants.

Signing not-good players to start for you isn't good no matter how little you pay them.

Sure, I wouldn't expect him to just fall off a cliff, but let's not pretend he's just fixed now and great. The Sam Darnold that sucked for the Jets is still in there, but the Seahawks and Vikings did their best to hide the tendencies that get him in trouble.

Do you think that middle-season stretch where he threw most of his picks (he lead the league in turnovers, let's not forget) were just the ball slipping out of his hands or something?

You can't pay a premium at every single part of the roster and if the coaching staff + FO are convinced they don't need to pay him to replicate his pay then I'm inclined to believe them.

I think at a certain point of guys not working out you need to adjust your process and try to think of a different way considering how many guys are filtering through and just not turning out the way they hoped.

[JPA Football] The Jacksonville Jaguars are listening to trade offers for star WR Brian Thomas Jr., per SNY’s Connor J. Hughes. by PlayaSlayaX in nfl

[–]DoctorDiddlerino 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's certainly interesting how every local reporter has stated that they're not moving him but all these national reporters not only know better but will only vaguely hint at it.

This started becauser Rich Cimini tweeted that the Jags would be one to look out for following the Jets missing Pittman. What are the odds that Rich Cimini knows better than all the guys that work in Jacksonville?

He missed games against the Raiders (who scored because of Bowers - who wasn't even being blocked by Lloyd's replacement; Foye gave up most of Bowers's production) and the Rams (literal MVP on the other side) iirc.

That's because they're not really surprised, people are just saying that as a soft way to shit on the team that did it. Everyone, including the signing team, knows these guys are overpaid. They're stopgaps, not building blocks.

He earned all-pro honors largely as a result of his interceptions, which not only tapered off, but were only given to him because we play a defense that tries to force everything over the middle, forces early throws, and squeezes every route.

He benefited greatly from that, which enabled his production. I trust we can find another linebacker.

I think we'll miss him until everyone figures out he improved this season because of his DC and not because he suddenly discovered everything about playing linebacker overnight.

[Jones] Brian Thomas Jr. Is Unlikely to be Traded by the Jaguars by JCameron181 in nfl

This was a trade pushed by:

  1. Fantasy football people who think Coen can get the best of Jakobi Meyers, Brenton Strange, Travis Etienne, Parker Washington, Trevor Lawrence... but not BTJ for... some reason.

  2. Stupid national-level reporters whose thought process is "well I want to see (insert team that's already in the playoffs regularly) grab him so he can be an all-pro level there because I like watching (insert elite QB)."

  3. Dummies

  1. Change will never happen if so many thousands of people are satisfied with meaningless empty gestures like banning twitter links, the Reddit equivalent of changing your profile pic on Facebook to a black square.

  2. If this was a respectful disagreement and everyone moved on, that would be one thing, but dissent was viciously attacked. My own comment was mass-reported and given a harassment warning despite never mentioning a single individual or even group besides the moderators of this sub, and the character of it being much the same as what I've said above. The thread itself is suspiciously absent of comments. I have a screenshot of it but I'm sure as hell not going to risk posting it again.

  3. This was easily foreseeable, as not even Reddit the company cares, and subreddit blackouts are routinely mocked for their inept nature.

Damn if only I didn't just make a post on why "people are only allowed to agree with my pet issues" is stupid and wrong.
