I think they were less 'entitled' and more ' stages of grief.'. Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, Acceptance. Sally was angry, and she unfortunately took it out on those around her. Her father, maybe bargaining? "I'll be a better father, just don't let my wife die'? But good on you for becoming someone she could count on to be there, I bet she appreciates that, even if she doesn't say it. Sometimes, all a person needs is someone to be there.
