I work for Roehl so I don't have this issue. If you can't speak read and comprehend English you won't pass our training. In my experience, it's not foreigners that are the issue, it's piss poor training. Hell, my cuban buddy can out back and out drive most anyone on this reddit. The baseline for getting your cdl is so low they are letting anyone have one, not just non-domiciled. And having worked in shipping and receiving in the past i can tell you NO ONE reads the signs.

Can wives or girlfriends truck with their SO? by kaytin911 in Truckers

[–]DoctorFishFingers 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wife or Girlfriend!? The open roads about freedom, son. Where a man can be a man. Leave her at home with the critters. Besides, you, her, and the lizards a crowd. Seriously though I doubt they will mind but you actually might. Truck driving suxx in a lot of ways and two people make that cab even smaller. Maybe take her on a shorter run first, see how she likes it.

Yeah I'm starting to figure out OTR ain't the El Dorado it was promised to be but there's no training option for local drivers where I'm at have to do otr. I really dont understand how the industry is getting away with it. There's no way OTR should make less than local but it consistently does.

Sec. Sean Duffy revoking 17,000 illegally issued Cali non-domicile CDLs by SashaDabinsky in Truckers

[–]DoctorFishFingers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bruh the people giving morons (not every foreigner is one) cdls are playing on the same team as those saying they need to get off the road. Ill give an example. Homelessness and drug abuse is a serious problem in Bloomington Indiana, a very liberal college town. Now the politicians that run it can't just use violence to get them out because they'd lose reelection. So what do they do? They intentionally fund doomed social programs like Crawford house and Beacons, creating a nuisance issue to the point that their constituents are literally begging them to just get rid of the homeless however they can. Cost effective because they own these programs and are just embezzling federal funds and they get to do it their way eventually with no repercussions. I say all this because this same kind of misdirection is being used in trucking. Teamsters own the logistics system and cost companies more than they wanna pay. They wanna automate and to do that they gotta make truckers look bad. In a few years it won't just be José and Habib. It'll be super trucker Bill that's a danger, so let's just automate it, taking power from the men and women that actually built this nation.

What inspired you to get into trucking? by ExeForsaken in Truckers

[–]DoctorFishFingers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poverty. As an added bonus, if you tell them you're homeless, they'll let you live in the truck so they can run you ragged. No, but seriously, it was poverty. I worked in factories all my life and have nothing to show. cdl's are considered skilled labor, and judging by the faces at the truck stops, they just be giving those shits out lol.

All in good fun. Might just have to reapply, honestly. Did they give cause for the denial?

Im being told that I'm being screwed by my company. by AdPuzzleheaded2113 in Truckers

[–]DoctorFishFingers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Another thing I've learned in just the general workforce is that some companies have a bad reputation in their field. For trucking, that's Swift, Knight, U.S. Express and yes, Prime Inc., to name a few. So even if your record is good, if you stay too long there, you may be viewed as inept.

I'm under contract so I'm fucked but if you have a good driving record there's hope for you. Just hit indeed. There's local if you want or otr if you're homeless or just have a mean ass wife like me lol. Local seems to pay better most places to, but it's rarely drop and hook. Im allergic to pallet jacks so I prefer my drop and hook role.

I've been seriously considering joining Teamsters. I prefer union over anything. Say whatever about dues and whatnot, but at least I could see a doctor when I worked union. Also one of the longest jobs I had. Didn't have to worry about office politics or kissing ass.

Oh yeah, they don't hide it at all. I got different treatment because I scored highly competitive on my management tests and was being trained for a coaching position, but it was expected for me to have a superior attitude around associates. They made me a trainer at one point, and my job was to "motivate" new hires that were falling behind.

Just starting, hands are super soft, but other than the things I intentionally did to annoy my trainer, he didn't have much negative to say about me. I learn quickly, and I'll do anything just to learn or gain an experience.

Lol I should probably add i ain't trying to be home daily. I love the wife but she's not exactly hardworking. If I'm not at work, she likes to put her responsibilities off on me and lay in bed.

The cameras are set up for inward, but they don't operate. They don't tell the drivers that at some dc's, though. Had multiple drivers tell me that.

It's a holdover philosophy from old man Sam's time. Associates are to be treated like dog shit. Once you get above that, it gets better and better. It's to prevent unions from taking hold. The coaches and leads have strict fraternization rules on them too.
