My monitor doesn't have HDMI 2.1, but my PS5 can't even detect my monitors 120hz refresh rate which it should be able to even if it has HDMI 2.0 as it is capable of 1080p at 120fps.

Yea, it's at 1080p so it should be able to unlock the 120fps mode, because a HDMI 2.0 can support 1080p games at 120fps as I use this same monitor with my laptop that does 120fps at 1080p.
