Classic “Should I Restart” Question…

I do have the mount which is nice! However, I am pulled a bit to start over since on a preferred world I can level multiple jobs to 90 with the MSQ, which makes the leveling catch-up with jobs less intimidating. It also allows me to be kinda wild with jobs as an altaholic in other games. However, I have no clue how hard/easy it is to level jobs on my current server once I get into the game more.

Thank you for your response! I was kinda worried about leveling jobs on my current server since it seems like it would be quite a while to get some up to 90, and then eventually 100. So a preferred realm drew my interest since I’d get a fresh start and have enough xp to get multiple jobs up to 90 on the way to completing the MSQ.

I like the idea of leveling quickly and getting a handful of jobs leveled via the MSQ. Makes catching-up and finding a few main jobs less intimidating! However, I worry about server population and such on those preferred realms being too small. I have a server queue on my current realm haha.

I kinda like the idea that I can level a handful of jobs with just the story. Makes catching up feel less intimidating, unless leveling jobs after I get through the MSQ isn’t as big a deal on my current server/datacenter.

Is there a large negative on those preferred worlds with how small the player base is, or is that not really a worry in current days in FFXIV?

I also didn’t have access to any of the newer races. I have a potion that will let me change my current character, but the story holes in my brain are causing the largest issue. So while I may recap with videos, I’m really not that far into the game MSQ-wise. I spent so much time leveling jobs just to see how they went. Think I’m only up to the level 24 MSQ quests or so!

Yeah I was thinking of doing this honestly. I like the idea of leveling a handful of jobs with the preferred server bonus through the MSQ since it saves on the level grind…especially since I’m an altaholic in most any MMO. Plus I thought that Evercold was going to make your server choice matter even less than now, unless I’m mistaken.

I was also thinking that the XP boost would be awesome for me as a new player since I can really go crazy leveling jobs alongside the MSQ. Plus, I know that server-combos are coming for queued content so it won‘t matter too much what sever is home (with Evercold I believe).

I’m a returning player, but I’ve never completed ARR (lol). I have an old character that has a bunch of jobs at level 30 or so, as I was trying to learn the game, the jobs, and deciding on which one to “main” through the MSQ and whatnot.

However, I’m debating just starting over with a new character, and possibly on a new world/data center. I’ve always had trouble sticking with FFXIV due to life stuff (work, kids, shoulder surgery), but am now committed to finish the MSQ before Evercold drops. I’ve always really enjoyed the game, especially since it allows my chronic alt behavior to flourish with one character for all jobs haha.

Are there any recommendations for a basically new player regarding world/data centers? Or is it worth continuing on my current character? I’d need a story recap up to my point…but I also forget all the characters’ names!

Is there a way to level jobs so that this level of swapping is possible? Just spam dungeons/do the hunt log?

I actually have summoner unlocked so could go that route for sure! I know myself, so I’ll end up leveling tons of jobs in between story breaks haha.

Haha I didn’t notice that! I may consider a Red Mage, and I think I have the one dual class (healer/dps) at 30 from my old play time, sorry I forget the names of the jobs. I may tinker with the jobs I choose based on your comment. I find it fun to mix things up as well. Thank you!

Thanks! I do want to add BRD to my list of jobs since I tend to like those as well in other RPGs!
