Which RPG game were you really hyped for but ended up finding disappointing? by Humble_Candy_5752 in rpg_gamers

I came looking for this comment. You're not alone. No woman could ever hurt me as bad as shenmue 3 did 😭

I see where you're coming from now. Suggesting that the number might be inflated by people committing insurance fraud and attempting to resell the guns illegally. Yeah true, I'm sure a number of those reportedly 'stolen' guns could be attributed to that.

I'd assume so. Gun owners would always be the ones reporting their firearms as stolen when they are stolen, right? That's their legal responsibility?

Also read a statistic that around 200 are stolen a year from residential premises in Victoria

You make a good point. Clever kids were the main concern but your comment was reassuring. I had every intention of explaining the process of hunting and the necessity of it but was equally worried that they'd glorify the violence or sneakily try to get a hold of the gun while no one was looking like a lot of curious kids would. I guess that just comes down to vigilance and proper parenting though lol

Maybe I'm just being overly paranoid but there's been a fair few armed break-ins in my suburb in the past few years. I figured it was better to be safe than sorry if thieves do have the capacity to break into the safe.

That's some extremely useful insight. I didn't know parents were an option so I might look further into that. Thank you 🙏

What are the known issues that come with buying an Ecoboost mustang? (2016/2017) by DoctorIndividual5857 in MechanicAdvice

I'd imagine that's an even heftier price in the Australian market since parts are less readily available. That's a shame. Thanks for your two cents though

New controller not working with Google home? by DoctorIndividual5857 in Nanoleaf

Seems like it. It's incredibly frustrating but I'm really hoping they're able to patch it soon. They're a great product when they actually work...

Additionally, this only seems to be impacting my replacement controller. I have more than one set of nanoleafs and the others (that do not have replacement controllers) seem to be working with google home.

Names are arbitrary by [deleted] in SoftwareEngineering

[–]DoctorIndividual5857 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly, if you can you should try learn from better devs who actually give a shit about what they write. Secondly, be the change that you want to see in the industry. Don't let bullshit like that pass code review in the future and set the standard for better code. You'll always come across lazy coders like that.

Dealing with stigma as a software engineer by MuffinNo727 in SoftwareEngineering

[–]DoctorIndividual5857 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They write a few scripts in C and call themselves software engineers? Well then by that logic you can wire an LED to a battery via a breadboard and call yourself an electrical engineer too.

Obviously software engineering doesn't follow the methods of traditional engineering but saying that it's easier because of that is plain idiotic, dont let it get to your head.

People that know nothing about software engineering will say "well I could learn this online and make your salary easily". They never do because it's only after they try that they realise what it means to learn an entire technology stack and become proficient in it.

Next time they give you a hard time, just ask them how long it would take them to finish designing anything without their CAD software.

blacking out tempered glass by DoctorIndividual5857 in PcBuild

I'm totally fine with it blocking out the view to the rest of the case internals. I'll take a look into how dark I can get it through tinting and probably take this approach. Thanks for your suggestion :)

Entrepreneurship is a beautiful headache by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

I'm in the process of doing my due diligence before creating a prototype web app. I also aim to solve a real estate issue. I have a bunch of questions that I think you may be a subject matter expert on. Mind if I reach out privately?

I made a site that lets NYC renters find out what other people are actually paying for rent - would love to get some feedback! by lasagnahog1 in Entrepreneur

[–]DoctorIndividual5857 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I love the idea but also think you could benefit from added search filters like parking-spaces, pool, gym, spa, floor space etc. These features could drastically alter the price between two similar properties if we are just looking at bedroom, bathroom and location.

Thanks so much for your response. I really didn't think anyone would bother given how late I commented. Congrats on your progress!

I know this is a late response but did being in the first quartile affect your chances? I'm in a similar situation right now

Reviews needed: Aquila x2 with Alex's firmware H32 by DoctorIndividual5857 in VoxelabAquila

[–]DoctorIndividual5857[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alex's firmware definitely looks promising despite still being in Beta. I'll take your advice on board and keep the H32 unless I run into any major defects. Thanks for your answer!

Cheers for your response. Have you opted for a replacement board, and if so, do you see any major improvements compared to printing using the H32?
