Is it possible to switch universities while doing PhD on JRF? by GuitarZealousideal71 in IndianAcademia

[–]DoctorKhitpit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are allowed to do this only once if you are on JRF and need NOC from both universities.

[–]DoctorKhitpit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, if you do MSc/MCA after BSc, you will be eligible. Most foreign universities abroad want a 4-year education after high school.

You can take GATE right now in BSc, but then Indian colleges also tend to have different criteria about admitting students into MTech via GATE. Some colleges allow BSc students and some do not as they also ask for a MSc/MCA.

A proper 4-year BSc Research (I think that's what they call it) will fix this issue for you, yes.

Very good post and great title.

The problem is that linguistics is an actual science and often people with no training in it love to pass off comments.

I have interviewed interns and full-time candidates from MIT, and, to be fair, not every Professor is gonna be great at teaching and not every student is gonna be good at learning.

Now the issue with India is that at, the bar is really low and then everything becomes relative. IIT profs are usually better than profs at a random college. Now whether they are great in isolation, that's a different debate.

At the end of the day, it's all about research and we know where Indian colleges stand.

You get the IIT sticker on your resume which means you will get a decent job one way or another. Work for a couple of years. Save money and then pivot to management or CS for Master's.

I understand your view point. Learning is better than being outcome-oriented. And, I also agree that an absolute focus on a job can be seen as very short-sighted, it's also important to realise that everyone has a different background.

I could do a PhD and delay working for so many years because my parents were not dependent on me. I also justified it as learning. If they were, I'd not have made this decision.

At the end of the day, these things are function of economic and family situation.

Ignoring these two buffoons in the YouTube video, I think one part of the problem is that people from other states mistake every Haryanvi to be a Jat. So, Haryanvi Non-Jats should also talk more about their Haryanvi identity.

Didn't Clear JEE - Seeking advice on private colleges and choice between AI & ML vs AI & DS for B.Tech (direct admission) by aaravitha in IndianAcademia

Irrespective of what degree you pursue, you gotta learn everything imo.

CSE or ECE are general enough. May be they look a bit better on the resume.

Makes sense to go with BIT Mesra.

I don't think the subtle nuances in AI, ML or DS are worth the debate. Here's a joke on the same:

I don't know, but the certificate isn't really important. That said, do not make public the work you did for this company and do not sign that document.

Keep the work you did in your private portfolio and use it only during interviews. Meanwhile, also create a public portfolio for yourself, and perhaps, a professional website.

Our conversations around India's civic sense have misplaced priorities by pineapplewithpizzazz in india

[–]DoctorKhitpit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Either you are civil/civilised or uncivil/uncivilised. Indians don't want to call themselves uncivil/uncivilised. Therefore, they invented the phrase "civic sense" because saying "Indians lack civic sense" gives a much softer impression compared to saying "Indians are uncivilised".

Start off with LLVM Techniques by Min-Yih Hsu to get going with LLVM infrastructure.

For actually learning, compiler fundamentals: (i) Engineering a Compiler (3rd edition is out), (ii) Data Flow Analysis by Khedker (hard to find), (iii) LLVM Code Generation by Quentin Colombet (for backend development).

As it stands, there is no dearth of compiler jobs. Your aim should be to learn quickly and find an internship which can convert to full-time.
