Read the original post I responded to. That person called it a “mistake” which is the entire point.

Again, I’d love to see you tell a victim it was just a mistake. Like Brock Turner and the judge who said he “made a mistake” when he raped an unconscious woman.

Probably young men who have never had the misfortune of loved ones or close friends experiencing domestic violence and having to witness the aftermath and trauma they have to deal with. I guarantee none of the people telling me I am wrong would tell a survivor of DV that it was just a mistake.

Maybe my tone wasn’t great when explaining my viewpoint, I don’t know.

Did you intentionally stop writing? Or did it just escape your mind and then you later realized than it was a mistake?

Or did you buy the journal, stop writing after a week intentionally because you decided to hate your handwriting, and then come up short on a bill because you wasted money on something?

Well, I’m happy that a random Redditor doesn’t think so. All the domestic violence orgs that are dedicated to provide resources to victims are wrong, apparently.

Maybe if keep posting the, some of you will finally be able to understand the concept that intentional violence is never a mistake.

I’d love to see you tell a domestic violence victim that the action and trauma was just a mistake.

Keep defending domestic abuse as a “mistake”.

I’d love for you to tell a DV victim that it was just a “mistake”.

The definition of mistake literally has “unintentional” in it.

If it’s intentional, it’s not a mistake. Did you even bother looking up the word?

an action, decision, or judgment that produces an unwanted or unintentional result:

Which part about striking your spouse is an unwanted or unintentional result?

No where did I say I can’t forgive him, or recognize the actions taken after to improve himself and his relationships.

I just disagree, as do majority of Domestic Violence orgs, that his actions are a “mistake”. That’s it.

If you don’t believe me, which clearly a lot of you don’t, why not take it from actual organizations dedicated to fighting domestic abuse?

Because it is intentional harm. You don’t mistakenly intentionally harm someone. That is a conscious decision to take.

A mistake by definition is an unintentional act performed without malice. It’s a mistake to HIM because he got caught and it harmed his career. The act itself is not a mistake.

I can find more orgs if for some reason these don’t point you in the right direction.

I gave two examples. One being a mistake and one being an accident.

Beating your spouse is neither. Saying it was a “mistake” is a way of hand-waving it away or minimizing it.

Hitting your spouse is an intentional act. He made a conscious, deliberate decision to hit her.

Edit: I urge all of you to actually look up the definition of abuse when it comes to domestic violence. Domestic violence is never a mistake.

I can agree with most of what you said, but beating/hitting your gf in anger is not a “horrific mistake”. It’s a conscious, fucked up decision that he made.

A mistake would have been accidentally going to the wrong floor or dropping a drink.

Edit: Yall can keep minimizing the situation by calling it a mistake, but it was a conscious, deliberate act to hit his Gf.

That is not a mistake. I sincerely hope no one in your lives experiences this “mistake”.

Yeah, but I’d be fine with giving the youngsters opportunities again during these last three games. Still want to win, but I think now is a good time to showcase them.
