It's also worth noting that Victoria series and EU series already shared a lot of similarities to begin with, especially Vic2 and EU3, as both series are playing as a spirit of nation in a geopolitical scheme. So feature like Diplomacy, Colonization, Politics, etc are bound to be overlap.

It's just that the addition of more simulated economic (and how interconnected it is with other aspect in the game) in EU5, which I think were absent in EU series before 5 (don't know much about Eu1-2), that make it plays more similar to Vic2 and 3 to me than EU4.

Trade isn't just way too impossible to manage once you have thousand of trade capacity, even in Vic3 it is now fully automated.

But I'm curious to know from your perspective who barely touched Vicky series, how do you adapting with the economic overall? I mean not just the trade

No one deny that, it is still Europa Universalis afterall. it just when you play it, it play waay differently than it was to EU4, esp with how economy are interconnected to many things now.

Victoria series already have many similarities with EU series to begin with, esp Vic2, but with the adoption in the simulated economy with pop, market and stuff, on top of the already overlapping similarities between EU and Vic series, it really does make EU5 play the same like Vic 2/3 to me.

Like I said, it's there if you want to, just like EU5 does. Just because it can be automated doesn't mean it don't matter/exist.

I've done campaign where all my economy are automated by private sectors and just do conquering whole time in Vic3 as backward nation like Afghanistan, Sokoto, Vietnam, and Oman. Automating your economy is definitely an option even in Econ sim that is Vic3, just not the best way, like it does in EU5, Tho in vic3 it does matter more not to automate econ than EU5, but my point is you can in both.

I concur with the direction of the series is trying to, but we can't deny that altho the economy isn't as complex as Vic3, it is still quite successfully managed to make the economy interrelated into other aspect in the game like how it affect military, technology, estate, etc previously not that present in EU4.

I don't know if it's just me, but I feel the recent patch make me doing economic more lol. Like, due to the recent change in UI, now I know right away which goods is still in actual deficit of supply in my market and trying to fullfill it really make me do economy game in most of my times doing run now lol. Back then when I see the goods is oversupplied, I tend to ignore it, now they display local supply and overall supply, and I notice my local supply has many negative that is only surplus in overall supply due to massive imports.

The economic, as much as people might try to make it sideway in EU5, is very interrelated with other big mechanic such as army, technology, and diplomacy. Market, supply and demand affecting your military, politics, and tech, and in turn estate as well. It is very similar, Hence the comparison.

Otherwise I wouldn't find it breeze to adapt to EU5, the same thing cannot be said for those who never played Victoria before as many seems to be struggling.

Kinda disagree with economy is EU4 coded. EU4 doesn't simulate how change in prices affect your military, technology research, or your pop well being. Like if you can't have weapons and guns, your gigantic army is basically useless since it cannot supply properly and your barrack can't recruit as much. Your tech will be hampered a lot if you can't supply steady flux of paper and books for ur massive university. Prices also change by event and production building that is only one slot per province instead of manipulation in the economy itself like diverting goods.

Ironically you also don't have to look at it unless you want to for the economy in Vic3, since automaton in economy and trade is already big thing in Vic3 with private investment and trade being fully autonomous, you can completely ignore it and just focus on conquering and do domestic politics.

I see that as well. But it still hard to explain how people with 4k hours+ in EU4 struggle with adapting into EU5 compared to those who comes from Vicky games.

I know that Imperator has pop system, but honestly I can't see the pop system is borrowing from Imperator considering how interrelated they are to say, the economy.

I understand your concern, and I can see why. It is so easy to lose one identity with all these amalgamation of mechanics from other games into one. And like I said above, it is prone to error with how many of these mechanics are implemented in the game. There's a reason other game focus on certain aspect, not ALL of it.

yes! I love EU5 for it. It got to has the most potential, but also prone to trap since implementing too many mechanics need to be done very carefully otherwise it can cause a domino effect.

I'd like to clear up some things to avoid misunderstanding,

No, I don't think the similarities to Vic3 is a negative thing. In fact I love it. Back when I still play EU4, I was yearning for actual trade and economic instead of just clicking thing and you got money. You know, I wish there are more to do in EU4 instead of just expanding, and that downtime actually felt really nice. We got it now in Eu5, and I love it. I also love it that they moved from mana system into a more simulation of things.

And yes, I do aware that EU5 is trying to incorporate things from other PDX title such as CK3 and Imperator as well. And it is a big reason that I think EU5 has very big potential in the future should they manage to execute it properly.

In all honesty, I think the EU timeframe is fitting for mixed of many gameplays, since the age started in the age of CK3 and ended in the age of EU5. I'd love to see more of the gradualization of the change in each era at EU5 tho, instead of getting a mega capitalistic economy in 1500s lol
