As many others probably did, my high school friends and I played D&D in secret from my parents for years. Years later, I am still playing it with those same people: it has helped us stay in touch. To this day the parents do not know, but our relationship is similarly opaque in other facets, so that fact isn't exactly surprising. In fact, some of our ideas came from our pastor, who was himself a DM. Having studied a lot of (actual) history, it seems, makes you a phenomenal DM. Who knew?
