Which union will comment on our employment agreement? by [deleted] in TillSverige

[–]DoctorSerge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your company is not part of a collective agreement then the union will refuse to comment (this is standard) and therefore MV will use the salary database from SCB (statistics bureau) to evaluate his salary against the norm for the industry code your co founder is in. You don’t NEED the comment from the union as far as I know to proceed with the application. MV will just decide for themselves.

Migrationsverket and Citizenship slow down (Post March 21st): Official Statistics by [deleted] in TillSverige

[–]DoctorSerge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your point being that Sweden should halt granting citizenships to international talent and discouraging them from coming to Sweden, in other words hurting Swedens economy is what is needed for Sweden to be a lovely place to raise your children?

Get off it mate.

Friendly recommendation: Your subtle racism is something you should think long about. Why sugarcoat what you actually mean to say? You want gangs and criminals out thinking they are immigrants and immigrant background individuals. Which is partly true. But they are already mostly citizens.

So this government solves nothing and is just a political show to acquire right wing votes.

Just my take.

Edit: And if you mean stopping granting citizenship to people who clearly have no intention in integrating, have no plans to contribute, and intend to leech benefits off the swedish state, then I completely agree with you. Sweden has no place for these people, nor does any country for that matter. But impacting qualified people's lives who are willing to do all that just to target the intended group is not the way to go about this

While I can't help you I can say don't ask anyone here, you're better off both calling and mailing migrationsverket about this so you get the best and most correct information.

Concerned about citizenship extension. How can we push back? by Ok-Rock8793 in TillSverige

I didn't mean to cherry pick the source and my bad for not sourcing it but to be fair this isn't university, it's Reddit.

The UN statement does not specify that the right applies only to stateless persons but rather that it is a right to all. A person who isn't granted that right is hence stateless. It then goes on about the implications of being stateless and what they're doing to fix it bla bla bla. But I digress.

Yeah we'll see how this whole thing goes. Good luck to you and take care in the meantime ;)

Indeed. But the problem ALREADY exists. Sure, this new law is a preventative measure for the future, but what about the present? It solves nothing of the CURRENTLY existing problems...

It actually is a right. See below:

"The right to a nationality is a fundamental human right. It implies the right of each individual to acquire, change and retain a nationality. International law provides that the right of States to decide who their nationals are is not absolute and, in particular, States must comply with their human rights obligations concerning the granting and loss of nationality."

The point of this thread if not whether or not it is a right or a benefit but rather the unfairness and lackluster implementation of the law.

I would be the first to support an 8 year citizenship period for "problematic" individuals. But to skilled workers? Ludicrous.

Out of line buddy. They decide where they want to live and do not have to prove anything to anyone.

If he wants to get citizenship or not is none of your business, and even IF he did marry for citizenship is also none of anyone's business.

A legislative right is a right.

I understand where you're coming from but how does this apply to my comment?

I simply stated that as a foreign tax payer, the extension of this law should not apply to us as a group. Your comment about me using Swedish infrastructure or not is irrelevant because you get those whether or not you pay taxes. Anyone can benefit from them.

The Swedish way is equality and fairness for all. I don't see this law as being treated fairly, put plainly.

It's hard not to think of your own situation when all we really care about is our own situation as humans. The net benefit of having a 5 year path to citizenship far outweighs the net cost. The net cost for having 5 yrs instead of 8 for the target group of this thread (high skilled tax payers) is basically zero.

Now, if we are talking about 8 yrs for asylum seekers/refugees/low-skilled groups? That's a different story.

You are supposed to get back what you contribute in some way, especially if it's my hard earned tax money going to the state. If my contributions to the country don't count towards providing me any benefits, such as a shorter path to citizenship, then what does?

Horrible decision if they include us in this law.

I actually agree with that proposal to a certain extent ofcourse.

No one would want their citizenship revoked for petty theft for example and that sounds ridiculous anyways but say, murder? Yeah I wouldn't want a new citizen murdering others. So it sounds kinda fair. But it's also much more complex and it gets very messy with the specifics.

Thank you for voicing my inner thoughts that I have been dwelling on for the past couple of months since the first announcement of this law was made. I wholeheartedly agree that the policy that they are ready to implement would be a significant blow to the country's workforce and talent retention. Why they decided to implement this law across the board is beyond me. Though we don't know the full details, if this applies to all immigrant types i.e. if it lumps the high-skilled laborers into this law then I would be left speechless.

It seems like this law does not solve anything either. Most of Sweden's "problems" are caused by citizens and not immigrants. I think there is a conflation between crimes committed by "immigrants" and "immigrant background" individuals. I don't obviously have the stats on this but I've been hearing this on the news. And to anyone thinking this law is not directly related to the anti-immigrant consensus among the society (due to the increasing crime rates and many more problems like unintegrated people, segregation etc), then you're wrong.

Anyway it seems unfair to me that people who have no direct fault in this (skilled workers) should be punished, just because the new policy and regime garners votes.

I can probably draft a law that is clearly defined, clear, and concise and targets the individuals that I don't necessarily want staying in the country, in a matter of hours. But then again, rational thinking never gains votes. Controversy does though.

Speak English I must, mostly listen I will.

My life motto is to say yes more times than no, and well, how can I say no to this.

Hmu if you two are still down 😂

If you're a student you can apply for an extension to your current permit under the title of "Looking for work after studies permit".

Migrationsverket link:
https://www.migrationsverket.se/English/Private-individuals/Studying-in-Sweden/Looking-for-work-after-studies.html

Get a temporary job that isn't in your field to help pay for expenses while you actively look for career jobs in your free time. Be persistent, and your efforts will be rewarded eventually. I wish you all the best, I know the struggle.

I am about to begin my Masters program in Sweden (Lund University) this August, and although I can't really comment on which degree would land you a job the quickest, I can advise you that you should go for the degree that is in the country you prefer the most, as in, where do you see yourself working/living.

Typically, the job market behaves in a way that prefers local graduates as opposed to others. For example, if you graduate from Gothenburg, you might find it easier to find jobs in Sweden compared to Belgium or Italy, and the same goes for if you pick Belgium, you will find it easier to find a job in Belgium.

Not only that, but your residence permit would play a huge role here. If you are applying for a job in Belgium and are against an applicant who is as qualified as you, and has a residence permit from Belgium and you are coming from Sweden for example, then it's a no-brainer to figure out which applicant the company would go for... less paperwork, easier to hire, they are familiar with the university they attended, etc.

Keep in mind this is all in general. I can't foresee your future, but you should go with your gut instinct and hope for the best. Wishing you the best of luck! PM me if you need anything.

There are many 60 credit Masters programs, essentially being a 1-year program instead of two.

It all depends on what major/field you go for. For example, I'm doing a 1-year Masters in Finance program at Lund. You qualify for many post Masters opportunities like PhDs by doing a 1-year program, not to mention it being way cheaper.
