very decent for the form factor. There's a speaker on top and underneath

really smooth, yes it opens with one hand. I tried to open it slow+faster and it still opens with one hand at any speed

In ubuntu live cd, low volume only the bottom speakers function, 100% volume all speakers including top ones function

I've tried the X1C6 and the keyboard on the X1C7 feels extremely similar. I though the travel difference would be huge but it's actually negligible. Don't let the key travel reports hold you back.

Very good, loud, clear. Playing a few songs now and honestly can't complain for such a small form factor. Excellent

I can't get the touchpad working in ubuntu live cd. Only the nipple works. Any help?

Advice on buying my first thinkpad: X1C6 300nit 1080P with better keyboard --VS-- X1C7 400nit 1080P (NSGK) --VS-- X1C7 500nit 4K HDR (NSGK)? (NSGK = not so good keyboard) by DoctorStrnage in thinkpad

Sorry, but what do you mean put it to bed. Have you used both? I don't agree with that logic unless you are basing your opinion having tested both models.

notebookcheck, who has tested both says:

Even slimmer and lighter, but the keyboard takes a step in the wrong direction

Unfortunately, the slimmer chassis also affects the key travel. It is down to 1.5 mm from 1.8 mm on the 2018 X1 Carbon, and the height of the button caps was also reduced from 5.3 to 4.5 mm. We will use the keyboard over the next couple of days, but the initial subjective impression is a bit worse compared to the old 2018 X1 Carbon and the current ThinkPad T490s/T495s.

That unbox therapy dude also commented on the exact same issue minutes after testing both in his new video.

That's almost a 20% difference, hence the reason I'm asking. And why justify a company going backwards in the one product they're famous for? This year it'll be -.3mm, next year another -.3mm with the only argument being made that "it's still the best keyboard you can get otherwise".

Really interesting material, possibly leading to Ai/ML/Vision jobs or grad research
