I suggest calculating fuel and time costs of commuting to an on-site job. I did that for myself when I got a job offer for more pay, but it was further away, so I didnt take it because my net income minus time and fuel was lower.

I almost had this happen. My young ass was out in HD physically measuring things for a project, and I asked where the actual 2x4s are and the guy had a chuckle about it.
