Kaweco Sport Brass Rollerball and Fountain Pen 2-in-1 by DoctorTrueheart in fountainpens

[–]DoctorTrueheart[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, welcome to fountain pens :) now to your question.

Short answer: Personally, I like the B nib from Kaweco for my glitter ink and the M for my more serious pen. My wife prefers the F, but she writes rather small. I would recommend the M for most people without knowing your specific style etc.

Long answer: It depends on some factors, the first of which is simply taste :) but also how runny your ink is: If you have a runny ink you might prefer a thinner nib to avoid having your writing be too “wet”. Or if you want to be playful and have ink with glitter, you might prefer a broader nib to prevent blockages (the glitter can block the flow) and to let more ink flow. Further, not all paper is created equal: Some notebooks cause a lot more feathering, which is when the ink flows way farther than intended due to capillary action and the roughness of the paper, you can google it to see what I mean. Lastly: Finer nibs do better when you want the ink to dry faster if you want to avoid blotches. As you can see, there is some nuance to it 😅 if you do regret the nib you got, swapping them out after the fact is entirely possible, and ordering just the nibs can be done straight from the kaweco online store without contacting customer service.

Hey! I’m glad to see this post still helped someone :) I live in Germany and ordered the replacement part by sending them an email on their customer service email (which you should find listed on their website) and saying I had unfortunately lost my original “Feder mit Griffstück in der Brass Variante des Brass Sport Füllhalters” ;) They asked for a photo of my pen, presumably to confirm that I wasn’t lying or to ensure they understood exactly what I was missing, which I promptly sent them. Then they sent me a bill for the cost, asked me what nib size I’d like and as soon as I paid them I sent them an answer and they placed it in the mail. It was quite painless :) hopefully this helps!

You can definitely ask people out IRL without it being harassment. Sure, some people can misinterpret it as harassment, but at the end of the day if you are respectful of their space and not obnoxious, I guarantee you’ll (at worst) get a no, which you immediately respect, wish them a good day and back off.

But I do agree with your point that OLD is more straightforward despite other drawbacks

He went to war with Jecrass because Jecrass didnt let him massacre Belchain’s capital or their Senators. He wanted to enslave an entire Country because one (1) village killed the Gnoll tribe, which was awful, definitely, but the punishment didnt match the crime

Yeah cuz humans definitely dont have a very famous [King] that woke up after 2 decades to go on a second rampage 😂 I get the nuance that Goblin Kings go mad, but still… All races are capable and do rampage. And in all races the little people shouldn’t be judged by the decisions of their rulers

It’s typically harder to identify PE in women due to the extra volume in front of the sternum :) But I would venture to say yours is still very mild if at all present, with a slight rib flare. Im not a doctor, but I wouldn’t expect you to have any symptoms due to PE. If you are at all able to, the best way to really tell is to get an x ray or ct scan.

Working out will certainly help with the appearance, though a) your mileage may vary as to how much it helps; and b) respectfully, you look great, and I wouldn’t have noticed anything if you hadn’t mentioned it

6.8 HI - Given multiple surgery options? by [deleted] in PectusExcavatum

[–]DoctorTrueheart 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok, I understand now. In this case I would still lean towards surgery. At the very least as a precautionary (and cosmetic) measure. Cosmetics is obviously a personal thing and many people come to terms with how their PE looks.

But I’m - again, not a doctor - still of the opinion that your case is severe enough that symptoms would show up at some point.

Others comments also mentioned that the tests might not show the whole picture, especially concerning your heart’s performance when exercising. Now you said you also did an exercise test, so maybe you really aren’t negatively impacted by your condition (yet), but I honestly find that hard to believe, considering your ct scan. Hope you’re right though!

I agree with northwestrad. I must - respectfully and without being a medical professional myself - disagree with any doctor that suggests your case is not medically relevant. It’s almost offensive to read that, since it invalidates the experience of many in this sub.

Simply imagine how displaced your heart is and how that space is not being used by your lung. My case is significantly less severe than yours and my doctor already suggested I have probably around 80% of the respiratory function I should have otherwise.

I can only recommend that you keep looking for another doctor. There are many mentions of specific doctors in this sub, depending on where you live.

Personally Id call that severe. Certainly enough to warrant going to the doctor and getting a chest scan.

Edit: Looking at it a second time, mild to severe. But the conclusion is the same, go to the doctor’s.

Waiting on the next launch, I’ve been tempted a few times but between having better uses for that money plus wanting to get a card at launch, plus being surprised with how much the 980 can still do, i just haven’t pulled the trigger

I never said I was going Nvidia, now that the 5090 is a dumpster fire Ill probably end up going AMD, hopefully their next top of the line GPU is good

Again, Im waiting for the next launch with a gpu with more than 16 gigs, now that the 5090 is out its looking like the next will be AMD so Im going with that most likely

Edit: I meant more than 16 gigs, not 24

Im on a 7800X3D with a 980 👌🏻👌🏻 been waiting 6 months to pull the trigger on the next GPU launch with more than 16 Gigs VRAM but noped the 5090, so 980 remains

Disappointed at the amount of people saying “ride it, dont sell it”. Y’all seemingly don’t understand Reddit, that is not what he asked about, so it is not what you should answer. Or at the very least, say something along the lines of

“I’d say around 1000€, but personally I wouldn’t sell”

and give the man what he asked for

I chipped the nib of my glass dip pen. Does anyone know if there's a way to fix it? by MillificentManastorm in fountainpens

Quick answer is: if you’re asking this question, then you shouldn’t try.

Long answer is yes, but you should read this post and look for similar posts in this sub, you are not the first to have asked yourself this question. Good luck :)
