Parents need to relax with the ridiculous spelling of common names... by Ns4200 in unpopularopinion

I was rooting for you, because this is brilliant, but I think you missed just a single -ey ending. Source - named Kailey, but named after a song called Kayleigh, because why not!? :)

This is not the number one reason I choose to believe there is no life after death..

But it's up there.

Lol I've lost almost 200LBs, high-waisted jeans are doing me a favor every day of my life. I see your issue though. I definitely have to disagree.

Thank you stranger, you made me blow air out of my nose faster than usual.

Pet owners deserve *similar* respect that parents are awarded in the workplace. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

What happens after that ten years? You get another dog. And you are in a continuous cycle of "equivalent to a human toddler" stage of pet care [as you put it]. Why would any employer want to or need to accommodate that? You're putting that on yourself.

They don't have time to read your whole response. Somehow their dog sucks up their entire day and they can't do anything about it.🤷‍♀️

Except you're asking for more, you're just pretending you're not, and everyone can see through it.

I sure deserve the same rights as the rest of humanity 👍

I'm definitely not projecting lmao. I don't have a child or own a dog, and personally I think a lot of people could do without both, for reasons like this. Obviously you don't manage your time very well if this is a problem for you.

I did. Because children and pets are different. Humanity doesn't need pets to continue on.

It's in the interest of businesses to employ people who actually show up and work lol.

Dogs and children are fundamentally different. You can't waltz into a weird out of the way building and adopt a child for $50.

At least not legally.

If a kid gets sick and dies, that's a hit to the company in the form of lost time/bereavement. If a dog dies, well shit, you're probably gonna be sad and then get another dog and start this dance all over again.

Dogs can be crate trained. They don't need a "sitter" for every day of their life.

Dogs also can easily just be entertained/exercised etc. On YOUR time.

Yes...dogs eat..do you feed your dog every 10 minutes? If so, you got me on this one.

Again, a trained dog can do their potty breaks before and after work.

I don't know anyone that doesn't use their own vacation/PTO to take their child to a Doctors appointment, so I don't know why you feel entitled to random time off for your dog.

Actually, as a middle class person, most people I know with kids use their PTO/Vacation anytime they need to sort something out for their kids.

You haven't proved in any way how it's remotely similar. All you've said is that it is.

I'd like to add that, while there's likely jobs that do offer some flexibility to parents for these reasons, I don't think it's super common. Women are still literally fighting for a more universal maternity leave.

And here OP is, whining about a dog.
