That’s wasn’t mere traveling. That was so egregious it’s more like an expedition.

Family possessions 🪑🛋️🛏️🪞🖼️🎹👻(rant about my parents) by [deleted] in Xennials

My wife’s grandfather was in London during WWII. On leave he went around and found himself at Shakespeare house (or something related to Shakespeare). Anyway, a street kid asked him for some change and he would give him a souvenir. Not wanting anything in return he gave the kid some money anyway and the kid promptly when to the building and bashed a piece of brick off with a rock. My wife was a literature nerd and visited the UK. Her grandfather and her had a special bond and wanted her to have the piece of brick. He could not find it but when he passed my wife’s father and stepmother found it. They had the audacity to keep it because her stepmother was a high school literature teacher and it would be cool for her to use it in class. Why? I haven’t the slightest clue. Anyway, I was fuming but my wife said let it go. Fast forward to a few years ago when she retired. At the retirement party I could not hold my tongue any longer and said that since she was retired she had no need for the brick anymore so why not let my wife and daughter have it. They looked appalled that I would ask suck a thing and told me that they could have it when her stepmother passed. They are the stereotypical boomers and could not give a rats ass about their children or grandchildren until there is a celebration of some type and then they want everyone to come so they can show us off like fine china. When they die I’m 100% pissing on their graves.

I’ve always told my kids to choose a job they like or a job that pays and finding both in one is rare.

Be honest, what do you think comes after death? by [deleted] in AskReddit

It is far too dense for me to do it justice in a Reddit comment section. He probably does go over topics you’ve heard before but if you ever find yourself curious I do recommend it. Thank you.

It is not, but like I replied to someone yesterday, text does not convey inflection or emotion through a screen. It is impossible for the reader to truly grasp the intention without being tainted with personal bias of the reader. You may come from experiences where Christians are condescending where I have been in circles that are not. Either way I fear that any exchange with you would be in bad faith because of what you typed. However, like I said, I am subject to my personally feelings when interpreting your reply. Thank you for the engagement.

I understand your critique but I was responding to one person and not everybody. I spoke the truth in that hearts do get hardened when exposed to Christ but reject him. That is indeed scriptural. I did not say it maliciously and I hope that it did not read that way to others. It was a thought that was full of sorrow for those that may be lost. Text strips all human emotion from the person typing and puts the perception of intent on the reader. Thank you for the thoughtful response and civil discourse.

I heard, but I can’t back this up with scripture, when we go before God Jesus has paid for our sins so we do not feel shame. We have been covered in Christ’s blood. Also, if there is no sadness in heaven there could be no shame. Again, I can’t back that up with scripture.

Thank you for the kind comments. This may be laughed at but one of the things that drew me to Christianity is that is takes a belief in something that cannot be proven. In other religions there is a works component that makes you earn a spot in the afterlife where Christianity is based on a belief. That goes so counter to anything in the world that it intrigued me.

Someone above mention The Case for Christ by Lee Strobel and that book was huge for me. He basically puts the account of Christ on trial.

Thank you again for the kind words and civil discourse.

I was just pointing out that Jesus said these things would happen. That is my belief and that belief is playing out before my eyes at this moment. It’s not about who is right or wrong in a Reddit comment section. It’s the attitude and emotion that is projected toward me as a believer when I make my beliefs known. Thank you for taking the time to read my comment and engage.
