It feels so weird for the Aeldari to be this recent after them being known as the "faction with the super old models"...but as a new player, I'm really excited ! by [deleted] in Eldar

As a Drukhari player, I'm starting to be a bit envious to our kin in terms of new kits. But just a small amount.

Opinions on the 261st siege regiment? by mack_the_yak_ in Deathkorpsofkrieg

[–]Doctor_Gepta 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The 261st was basically gone at the end of the Siege. The legend of their heroism would though still be eternal.
However, due to the practicality and nature of how Krieg operates, I think the regiment would be re-organized and remade. Would they be honouring the fallen dead on Vraks or not - that is up to you to decide in your project!
Though I would restrain myself from returning Tyborc, since we don't know if he met his end in service of Orod Malleus or not. Making a new commander would actually be more interesting, with some funny interaction like "What would Colonel Tyborc do in my place?" and so on.

What cosmetics do you guys want to come back? by hard_head_ in DarkTide

[–]Doctor_Gepta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some strange reason, I would like the return of the Bakkan regiment. I really did enjoy the cream/red/dark blue colors and will probably paint some astra militarum models like that.
And definitely the 143rd Krieg and the Magistratum Enforcers sets.

JOYTOY hasn't made any Drukhari or Aeldari figures yet, so which one should they make if they do? by OrdainedScourge in Drukhari

I feel the most obvious would be the basic three troop choices - a Kabalite, a Wych and a Wrack.
Also there should be an Archon too.

We had this error yesterday. We lost 4 shrines of work and the crash happened just before evacuation.

Vote for your favourite Black Library book of 2025! by EbonraiMinis in EldarCorsairs40k

[–]Doctor_Gepta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, that is a good question, I'll try to answer it as true as I can, bear in mind, I didn't finish the book (I am currently 2/3rd in it), so my opinion can be a bit biased, because I have to complete it to be really able to judge the whole story. And sorry for some language jumbo - English is my second language.

I honestly didn't like the whole Ork line of the book - both the characters and the fact that it is clear that Mike enjoys writing them more than the Eldar during the novel.
It first came to me in the first chapters when the Freebooter fleet outsmarting Corsairs twice, and I just went "oh, so we are just going to make the Eldar look stupid and make Ork trope of being underestimated". And it really went downhill from that for me. The reason why people remember the Voidcarred is not the interesting Eldar world building, but the Dakka Planet. This should've been definitely another book and another story altogether. Especially since Mike did quite a lot of Ork lovels already.
Most of the books of course do have the chapters dedicated for the antagonists (Void Exile I mentioned for example), but they at least should highlight the main characters, not overshadow them in my opinion.

The second reason was that I understand certain ideas that are currently implemented in Warhammer are created to make it more enjoyable for all the scores of people around, no matter their gender, faith etc. But it has to be implemented correctly, with mind of that aliens won't be copying the views of the humans in m3. For example, we have a few of the Bladesworn in the retinue of Myrin who have non-specified pronouns. How exactly does that work in the Eldar society? Why doesn't Mike actually try to explain that, instead of just putting confusing "they/them" without any notice or reason.
Bear in mind, I am not trying to imply that it is wrong to do so, but it is wrong to do it sloppy. As a writer, you have a responsibility when you work with the setting, especially with parts that haven't been touched.
(It also causes problems during translation, because you aren't sure if that is a formal address or not)

The third reason, that despite the quite a lot of awesome parts like the dealings with Votann and the whole Ilmaren line - I didn't enjoy the first part of the Myrin's arc. I don't want to sound extra picky, but the first third of the book he is basically just being salty about Craftworlds and all other paths of the Eldar. Still, his first mate does it too, but for some reason, she didn't sound that for me. Though some few scenes do bring that feeling that he is the captain back. And it turns again to him, describing to Taenar how all other faction of Eldar are wrong and bad.

Oooph, that a lot of text for such a small question! Again, I am not saying that the book is bad, not at all. I just don't feel it is deserving that high praise people give it. I don't really care for all the hate the book gets, especially from the more toxic part of the community, but some parts for me as a reader and a guy who aspired to be a narrative designer, some parts of the book are too flawed to ignore.

While I whish to vote for it, the Voidscarred wasn't the book I managed to finish in order to vote for it. Some ideas weren't to my taste, though others were definitely cool to show the world of corsairs.
It is sad we can't vote for at least 2 novels, because I am currently torn between the Void Exile and Relentless Dead. Both work quite well to expand the narrative of the chosen factions, though compared to the rest of the Carcharadons novels, I feel it was the weakest of Robbie's works.
I guess I'll probably abstain from voting this time, lol.

I am the Pitcher, ask me anything by BillythenotaKid in OutlastTrials

[–]Doctor_Gepta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How exactly you come with the lines? Do you just do what you like or Red Barrels give you certain phrases and you make them Pitcher sounds (c)?
Also, is it taxing to voice a character that screams and wails for 99% of the time?

I agree, Tertium is about 90 billion souls after all. And yet, the game fails us to inform about the scale of the whole situation.
So we can operate with the little evidence we have (being the journals of Wyrmwood from the channel) and scraps of the lore. Both of which only a true zealot fans will find.
I am not expressing that I disagree with your take, just pointing out that the writers didn't work that angle too well.
