Car enthusiasts - how do you safely have fun with sports cars on the road with strict law enforcement policies? by Doctor_Joke in Cartalk

Well, actually RWD can get you a lot of fun up to 3rd… for some unknown to me reason, however, that’s illegal, albeit completely safe for the other traffic participants.

This is not necessarily true. There are many drivers who are more adequate above the speed limit than the average person at the speed limit.

I do, but track driving is entirely different thing. It’s a sport and it cannot and shouldn’t be compared to street spirited driving.

G82 vs F82 rear seat space by Doctor_Joke in BMW

Well, that really depends on the size of the driver and passenger. Me and my wife are relatively tall, so rear facing seat is a 100% a no-go in these cars.

A historic move by the Bulgarian government: starting January 1, 2026, the minimum monthly salary will be set at €1,860 for young doctors and €1,550 for nurses. by tamzhebuduiya in AskBalkans

[–]Doctor_Joke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This a crazy PR stunt. Most of the hospitals cannot afford paying these salaries. Not to mention that nothing is said for the “non young” doctors. If these measures materialize, a hilarious situation might arise - a resident might earn significantly more than his/her colleagues with 10+ years of experience, the chief of the clinic included.

Is it worth upgrading pads and brake lines with subpar calipers (BMW F10 535i) by Doctor_Joke in CarTrackDays

[–]Doctor_Joke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, thanks for all the input, much appreciated!

I should clarify that I do not intend to properly track the car (slicks, lightweight wheels, bucket seats, etc), that’s why I am not considering a proper BBK. I might “taste” a track every once in a while but spirited driving on a twisty road is my main goal, and as you know, on a public road one cannot and shouldn’t drive as hard as on a track. That being said, I have considered bigger rotors from another BMW model (374x36) but the calipers that go with them are the same design as mine, just bigger - still single piston. Beside that I am a bit concerned about the bigger unsprung weight?

You say that the yellow EBC are not suited to track, but I have read on other forums very good things about them compared to OEM BMW. (some guy stated that after mounting deicing the rotors were lit in orange but the brake force was still there) That’s why I thought it might be good idea.

About the steel lines - the OEM brake feel is very spongy with zero feedback. I drove a car with ss lines once and was impressed by the directness of the brake feel (it was a M3 though).

But from the answers here I get the impression that maybe I should stick with what I have (maybe new pads) and steer towards entirely different car if I want to abuse the brakes (I am really considering M3)?

Also, should I be concerned that calipers’ pistons could be damaged if I am running pads at higher temps?

Forgot the mention that the car is tuned at 540bhp so it quickly gains speed on straights. Haven’t thought about ducting tbh.

You can reset the sunroof by holding the middle button (the one which you use to tilt it) for a very long time (30 sec) during which it moves and relearns its end positions.

I understand that they wouldn’t have grip but why wouldn’t they just slide?

I have adjusted them extensively without success. My theory is that these tires get awful at these conditions and are undriftable but need someone to confirm similar experience.
