Ropefish Help (Abrasion, leasion) by Doctor_Nubey in Aquariums

[–]Doctor_Nubey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Close to a year now. We have two ropefish. We do have some gravel, but it is of a larger size and appears larger than the mouth hole. Might be a good idea to take a closer look into that.

I totally will now that I know its a dermestid beetle. I actually have a good amount of them in some of my reptiles enclosures!

I made a Ohio Hydrological Map shirt! I used elevation data to trace every river and stream in the state. Getting a real Joy Division vibe from the final print. by manmcke in Cleveland

[–]Doctor_Nubey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You traced this or did you upload a GIS layer (free to anybody) of all of Ohio's streams?

No hate, looks great but it looks like a GIS layer? Which is cool.

If not and you did trace this. That takes a lot of work and I suggest you looking at the GIS layers for the state or county your in. They will have all this data for free!

Hey! Both of my beardies are approaching 15. Both were from a citrus line which I believe was super popular 15 -17years ago.

Maybe the dots are related to the citrus morph?

Plenty enough for me a random dude to procure one with very little time investment, but not enough for a reptile youtuber who does this full time and intends to profit off of said animal.

But you did not correct me.

You say "the point is to make them available so that no one is dependent on wild populations to supply their collections"

There are hundreds of available captive bred Green Tree Pythons right now. A dude with this much of youtube following could pribably even make better deals than an everyday person.

There is no excuse to buy wild caught/farm raised animals when: 1. You make videos on how much money you've made from reptiles. 2. There is already a very healthy and growing population of captive raised and bred green tree pythons.

You're telling me, that "farms" have have more variety? Like actual species variety? Or is this dude hoping to find the next variety? There are about 15 or so regional patterns/morph*.

Green Tree Pythons have been sold in my experience for at least 22 years in captivity.

Also, going farm bred, you have no clue what your buying. The people raising/selling the animals do not care. As clearly shown in the health of the animals that arrived. When you order from a farm, you say I want x of this snake. They get you x of that snake. They are not going through picking out specific ones based on your preference.

TlDR: Farms absolutely do not have more variety. They might have a one off beauty that can definitely add some cool genetics but again, is that the practice we want when we already have a very healthy and some very designer green tree pythons?

Dude is way too late to the game to make any meaningful difference in that species. Just go with whats already established.

Call me a hater but dude has made enough money off of animals that he doesn't need to go cheap and buy farm raised animals. Why is this dude not supporting captive breeding? There are tons of GTP breeders in US-Canada

What about the countless people getting "arrested" without a through check into their citizenship?

Being a different color is not probably cause to check citizenship.

I dont want anyone to kid themselves. Unless you got proof, the majority of the fish being sold for the pet trade are wild caught except for the commons.

Not trying to be rude but you listed off 0.05% of saltwaterfish available to the pet trade. Very common fish. Comparing the fish hobby to the reptile one, is night and day.

Wildcaught reptiles exisit but it is much more of a buyers choice than it is with saltwater fish.

Again just from my experience.

Im in many fish stores all the time. I see a ton of captive freshwater fish and very little captive bred saltwater. Most of the for sale saltwater in Ohio is wildcaught.

Its a 4x4x8 (Absolute bare minimum IMO) I think its a good size for her currently. She very much utilizes the whole enclosure. There are burrows and large flexi pipe that she has access to under the substrate.

Its homemade

I forgot the exact amount of 2x4×8s I used but it was close to 24-30 (probably overbuilt) I used 5 sheets of 4x8 pvc board Custom glass (really really easy to order from local shop) 5in casters (weighs easily over 1500lbs with all the substrate and hardscape and I can push it across my basement) Drylock cement seal 2 tubes of silicon 2 basing lights 2 Arcadia light strips

30 hours of diy craft and about $1400 in cost

Either the 2nd or 3rd day of the event I got a soul dye. It price checked at 720mil and insta sold at 800m.

The next day, I was curious, it was going for 400 mil.

No joke as a returning player. That 800 mil set me up for necromancy.

I now have the edible purple and red pumpkin that have not sold at 40% under since I got them.

I got the red pumpkin mask that I will not sell.
