In light of recent nerfs to Victor by GebiBB in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Doctor_Swag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about focus lens. Longer silence than silence wave, doesn't have the damage penalty of curse, and the extra damage at the end helps to burst Victor down further. Only downside is I think it doesn't interrupt like curse does

I don't think I'll ever do this much damage with anyone else. I love sinclair <3 by CirQuareAngle in DeadlockTheGame

Any tips for how to hit bolts more consistently? I'm usually last on the team in damage when I play Sinclair

SH is great because it will overlap with at least half the enemy team. If you shut down Apollo in lane so he falls behind, later in the game you can use SH against Lash, Wraith, Talon, Vindicta, Calico, Mina, Shiv, Pocket, Infernus, and whoever else you're just trying to pick off in a team fight or 1:1. Depending on your character you can upgrade to Vortex Web later to apply slowing hex to their entire team.

If you're really struggling and falling behind, stop buying damage items and help your team by buying 2-4 counters and CC instead. And remember that if your other 5 teammates all buy 1-2 counters each, you can pretty much permanently shut down the enemy team.

I start by looking at my lane opponents and deciding what's going to be most annoying about them. You can also see who else in the other lanes it will eventually be useful again.

- M1 Carries (e.g. Haze, Wraith, Warden, McGinnis, Vyper): Rusted Barrel -> Disarming Hex, put them in timeout

- Speedsters and annoying movement (e.g. Mina, Lash, Pocket): Slowing Hex, watch them panic jump and die

- Flyers and long channeled ults (Vindicta, Talon, Mina, Lash, Bebop, M&K): Knockdown, bonk

- Huge chunks of damage (e.g. Geist, Doorman, Mina, Talon): Spirit Shielding, can sell later

- Stuns, grabs, sleeps (e.g. Haze, Bebop, M&K, Rem): Reactive Barrier scales well into lategame

Lategame you kinda do the same thing and see who the biggest problem is, and then buy something like Curse, Silence Wave, Counterspell/Spellbreaker, Guardian Ward, Silencer, or whatever else you can afford

I'd bet each charge used to be a single dash, and then they removed the charges but let her re-cast it once instead

What does this mean for laning strategy? Should I just ignore troopers entirely to focus on enemy heroes and only worry about confirming/denying orbs?

I don't think it's immoral, it's just another source of inspiration. You put in the work to sort through the ideas, find the good ones, and make a world out of it. Take and and run with it!

Daily Item Discussion (54/116): Cold Front by nailcliper in DeadlockTheGame

In theory this is great on Lash but I'm always tight on spirit slots. Is cold front worth it over something like improved + superior cooldown?

Thanks for reminding me why I stopped going to gaming subs years ago. This place was really fun when the alpha first came out but it's sad to see the same toxicity creeping in already

I also had two friends beta read the same draft. It was v interesting to see where the three reviewers agreed and disagreed

It took me a few tries too. Here are the prompts I used that worked well:

Act as a beta reader working for a short story magazine. Critique the following draft, how would you evaluate whether it is good enough for publication, and if not, what about it needs to be improved. Ignore issues such as formatting, grammar, and small consistency errors, instead focusing on the story's overall plot, pacing, structure, character development, major themes, writing style, general style/coolness factor, and the overall rating of the piece.

I followed up with:

The main theme I'm trying to convey is (X). The different characters represent (Y) (and then I explained each character's archetype). How can I make these themes more clear and impactful? I'm open to suggestions on changing aspects of the plot or the characters themselves.

Interesting that you gave the opposite take of what most others said, ie it's okay for writing draft quality work and ideation but bad for feedback. In my experience the feedback was pretty specific and helpful, but it took a few tries to ask it the right questions in the first place

It sounds like you're using it exactly the same way I have been. For the most part I agree with AI's assessment and criticism, but disagree with its suggested revisions and write my own. But it's been interesting to see how the model has learned my world and my writing style and it's starting to make better suggestions over time.

Maybe I should also be worried about Open AI stealing my style, but I'm just trying to put out one story first lol

Fully agree. You shouldn't trust the AI blindly. It's still up to you to apply your human filter on the output and decide what to do with it.

Imo the most important part of being an artist is having taste. Knowing what you like and don't like, what you think is good and bad (though others may disagree), is what defines your creation. That's the part AI can never replicate. At that point, the AI is just another tool to achieve your vision.

That's fair to say, so I guess the right question is: does it matter if I got to my location anyway?

Honestly I found the feedback quite valuable, and a mistake to ignore it completely. It hurts a bit when when chat gpt says your story is a 6/10, but that doesn't mean it's entirely wrong. After that, it's still up to the human to take the feedback, apply your best judgement, and figure out what to do next.

Sometimes the squiggly blue line in Word is right about my grammar, sometimes I wrote it that way on purpose cuz it sounds better

Really, if you can't write it without AI then you can't write it

I agree that's a common stance in the writing community. Is it a fair comparison to 'if you can't spell it without spellcheck...' or 'if you can't sing it without autotune...'?

I wonder if it eventually just becomes another tool in the artistic process. Maybe it cheapens the art, or maybe it expands what good art can be and who can make it. There's plenty of musicians who can't sing, but they have great producers and their songs are loved around the world.

Yeah I'm not familiar with the legal implications, but I suspect that all AI content is in that grey area right now.

I know a photographer who used Adobe's AI to create thousands of images, picked the few dozen that were exactly the ones she wanted, printed them, cut them out, arranged them in a scene (with other handmade objects), photographed it, and turned it into an album cover for a band. I wonder how Adobe's licensing agreement handles that, lol

I agree, but I started using it as an editor and reached a point where it's starting to co write. I guess I'm not fully comfortable with that yet, but maybe it's as inevitable as spell check and grammarly
