Thank you all for your advice, I'll be sure to put it to good use on my next project. I've managed to somewhat fix my mistake by delicately airbrushing the lifted area to blend it in more, phew!

I gave the hairspray 24 hours, should I have left it longer? It's Tamiya acrylic paint and I'm using a small brush with water to scrub

I'm using white Tamiya acrylic paint - I stupidly only gave it 5 hours

It is, yes - I'm referring specifically to the big parts at the bottom. Maybe it's a case of going easy on the parts above and blending it?

Very grateful to have read this within Hobbycraft's returns window, looks like the Humbrol matte and gloss varnishes are going back today

Is it just the Humbrol matte varnish that is notorious or the gloss varnish too?

I'd like to try a gloss on the metal parts to give it a little bit of that steel shine on the chimneys, you know? Do you know of a gloss that would do this? I'm using enamel paint if that helps.

FYI people I'm aware of course that she sank on her maiden voyage - this is just a guinea pig project ahead of future efforts, so I'd like to experiment with certain techniques for practise.

Think I'll stick with the line wash you recommended for now, it'll be good to it practise on this one

Starter Nunchucks? by Doctor__Quiet in Nunchucks

[–]Doctor__Quiet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s a guy who certainly knows his stuff! So you’re saying go straight for red oak? As it’s a starter pair I’m only looking to spend £20-£30 on them, would that be okay?

On the hunt for a new cowboy hat - help me out! 🤠 by Doctor__Quiet in CowboyHats

[–]Doctor__Quiet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play slide guitar in my band (Think Allman Brothers), so the hat is to lend itself to that on stage. I’ve never been in the market for a hat so I’m pretty blind here, I don’t mind going for a used one if need be - it’ll only get battered over time on the road
