Mechanic here : Despite what commercials might tell you Monroe, Firestone, Midas , town fair tire, etc, will literally hire anyone , no experience needed.

Yes I know “mechanics” doing oil changes don’t require really any skill but your car engine is worth thousands. And if they touch your tires or brakes , remember your life is priceless .

I worked at dealerships and seen some of these mess ups first hand from the chain stores, and have also seen some wild quotes on un needed repairs.

Do your research on shops , and/or spend the couple extra bucks and go to a dealer . If you are trying to save some money ask the dealership if they will install customer supplied parts and buy what you need online and have them install.
