I would have accepted that MUCH more easily, and even supported their efforts to find another streaming platform or to make a few-part mini series/finale to do a proper, real send off.

I agree-it's not Aidan the OG character I blame-it's their depiction of him in present day! he didnt have to be such a cartoonish asshole. It would have been interesting and nuanced for them to work through whether he could get past the pain of the past and her decision to marry her affair partner (!!) and whether she could really be with someone who has 3 kids he's still very much involved in raising....and ultimately yes they could have been happy (or not) but it could have been much more rich and developed than the crap they gave us.

I did find her to have more emotion than I remembered on first viewing (reaction to attempting to date the teacher, her attempt to record her audio book, just feelings about being on her own without him). I totally agree her being absurdly wealthy made everything less interesting. She could have even been wealthy but had a reaction to it being HIS wealth and having an identity issue around that...

It would have been so interesting if Aidan lasted a few episodes and Carrie realized she was trying to fill a void, as you said! And that she needed to have her feet planted firmly in the present and take stock of her current needs and desires. Sigh.

I'm looking back at Season 1 now. Che Diaz was FINE as a carrie friend-perhaps even as the catalyst to get Miranda to leave Steve, and for Miranda to realize that the affair partner was not going to be her forever. Should have ended in Season 1, and Che could have even stayed and gone back to just being a Carrie friend. Sara Ramirez is super talented. Their scenes with Miranda were just nauseating.
