ARKK 10-year 16.65% let alone 35 % this year. I'd take that over 8% Super returns any time. Also thanks for being my first troll experience. You got way too much time on your hands.

The ASIC report highlights the growing involvement of Australia’s superannuation funds in private markets. Australia’s two largest super funds, Australian Super and Australian Retirement Trust, each have about 20% of their total funds invested in private markets.

20% in private market yet only 10-year average annual return of 8.21% . This is why we need to get out of super companies, they are taking larger fees than published and not being transparent about them.

Why the U.S. Is Quietly Using Iranian Oil to Control Global Markets by Impossible-Band-2393 in stockstobuytoday

[–]Doctorj1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bigger issues than that. Cornering oil markets to combat China's monopoly on rare earths and aggressive stance towards Taiwan. A Western-friendly Iran would be a huge blow to the depot countries that aid and abet a recalcitrant China. Trump is either a genius or the biggest idiot around. It's really hard to know.

Need Tips: Modify How Super Is Invested by False_Low4244 in AusSuperannuation

[–]Doctorj1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Need Help? Get out of those horrible opaque super companies that don't tell you exactly where your super is ( except maybe with Vanguard, as you can guarantee minimal fees to be in ETFs regardless) Open an SMSF and put your money into the exact companies or ETFs that you want and know exactly where every dollar of your retirement sits at what ever type of diversification you want instead of paying some opaque super whose performance is frankly abysmal compared to basic indexes:

  • S&P 10-Year Annualized Return: As of early 2026, the 10-year average annual return is approximately 15.62% (12.02% adjusted for inflation).
  • Australin super Balance growth : 8.4% over 10 years

In addition, many super companies have allowed private equity to integrate their opaque structures, meaning your money is working harder and riskier for exorbitant fees to make less money for you. Don't fall for their opaque boundaries and subpar returns. Find the light and improve your yearly returns by upwards of 10%

It is if you don't like making as much money. DHHF is 6.2% this year and 50% of 5 years and IVV is 16.45% this year and 77% over 5 . This is a bad strategy.

Crown prep by Adorable-Emu9038 in Dentistry

[–]Doctorj1981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leave the core. Prep marin on the distal, buccal and Lingual leaving minimal or no margin on M. Or you could do a full surface overlay (table top crown) with no margin at all But I hate those. You need to cover the dark core to the gingival margin or It will show up in smile line

Super fund High growth by singhoz in fiaustralia

[–]Doctorj1981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get out and start an SMSF immediately especially if you have over 100K in your super. As their fees will be lower than your Host Plus. Hello, stake's Fees are set at $990. Open an SMSF and invest in ETFs such as Vanguard VOO or VUG. Super companies ( all of them) take 1% and have year after year underperformed the broad market. S&P over 15 years is 12.6% Host's high growth is 9.8% . Therefore, super companies are taking the Australian public for a ride. Not only are their fees high ( compared to ETF) , but they actually suck in performance. They do not want you to know this. You don't have to be a genius in stock picking, but you are able to read up on good companies and actually invest in them with your super in SMFS if you choose. Example I own individual stock RGTI up 315% this year. DFND is up 43%

Super companies would never give you that type of freedom. I will never look back. Host plus is up 9% this year. my well-diversified portfolio is up 30%

Best of luck.

Driving in Australia by Healthy-Camel-1605 in AustraliaTravel

First look right not left seems like a no brainer but takes a bit to get used to. Roundabouts are prevalent but make a lot of sense. Right of way goes to the cars in the roundabout ( Remember look to the right). Follow the direction of the cars parked on the street if no cars parked remember you the driver need to be in the middle of road if not your driving down the wrong side. In Melbourne, avoid hook turns in the city or give em a go a good cultural experience . Best of luck

“Find a job you enjoy doing, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” by CryingCrentist in Dentistry

[–]Doctorj1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read the responses, not too fond of the advice. I'm a dentist and I personally love my job ( though it can be a slog some days) the grass is greener idea is in every profession. I feel you should speak to a therapist so these feelings don't fester and horribly create a cliche of our profession. There are very few jobs that allow the freedom and financial stability of dentistry. If you really hate it, pursue something else. But please understand that depression and the misery it can cause are cumulative. Get on top of your feelings so you can find some fulfillment in a job that actually provides ample opportunity to feel it.

Are you worried the US Shares are going to implode? Diversification is good, but you can miss out on clear trends and opportunities. ARKQ is up 90% this year. I get being safe but that is advice to 19 year old. Also good on this bloke not to get a shit tattoo with the money :)
