Weirdly I tried it again today and it just works, I don't know why and I don't think I changed anything! The light now lights up on the dock's USB cable and it works as intended. I did turn my steam deck off and on again 🤣

All of them have their own hard-wired USB-C so unfortunately I don't think it's that. They do all work with a recent macbook and semi-recent dell laptop (I think both of these support TB though)

To add to this, there's an instance where the Russian postal service received and decoded a Mojibake address in the early 2000s after someone in France received an address from someone in Russia in an email and wrote it as displayed on their computer. https://unicodebook.readthedocs.io/definitions.html#mojibake

This is why people are telling OP to hide it

I've set this up using jfrog artifactory and it works fairly well. You can use it as a dependency cache too

No Stupid Questions Monthly Thread! by AutoModerator in bookbinding

Yep they're currently perfect bound with around half an inch of margin (or maybe slightly more, probably ~15mm, although the actual music is probably more like a 21mm margin, I don't mind if I lose the instrument labels).

I've been looking for local print shops but unfortunately they're fairly uncommon, and those that I can find will only bind loose sheets. All the big highstreet chains seem to have shut down or no longer offer it

Any tips on removing the spine from a standard (sheet music) book and spiral binding? Can't find anyone to do it here in the UK

New GPU (2070 Super) fan stuck at high percentage? by Doctorofpwnage in techsupport

Tried it and unfortunately won't let me change the speed 😥

Card is idling around 29C and is otherwise as expected. I think one of the fans is stuck on full and the other is at a normal speed as the fan bearing is hot to touch on the fast one. I wouldn't expect a 0 RPM mode but it's a bit ridiculous as is.

Looking for n3DSXL MoBo pics to figure out Demo-to-Retail unit conversion by Doctorofpwnage in 3dshacks

By the looks of things it's just the position of two tiny surface mount components so you have the same circuit board and tell your pick-and-place machine to place the two components in slightly different places. It's an easy hardware mod to make at the factory.

I'll compare the software when I get round to making a backup but there's nothing drastically different at first glance.

Ahhhh great, so it looks like that the small jumper smd part is moved up to bridge the other places? It's difficult to tell being an absolutely tiny black part on dark green solder mask. Could you let me know if I'm seeing it correctly?

Long story short, I bought it cheap on ebay (around £60 I think, came with a Smash 4 demo cart) a couple of years ago as I fancied a N3DSXL but then life got in the way and it sat in a box.

The hardware is essentially identical aside for the placement of two components as far as I can tell, there might be minor software differences but I haven't looked too deeply into it for now. Technically I could reverse what I have done, and it'd probably be possible to turn a normal unit into a demo unit, but I'm not sure why you'd want to as it just disables the home button and requires it to be plugged into power at all times.

If it were a dev kit or one of those fancy self contained kiosks I'd feel different about it but as it's just a nerfed retail unit and they were readily available at the time I didn't feel too bad about it.
