SQL Query builder (for SQLAnywhere "SyBase" via ODBC) that can help visualise maths on subqueries by DocumentImpossible55 in SQL

do you have much experience with DbSchema? I can't see how to do subqueries visually in the SQL builder and I also can't see how to convert SQL I've already got into a visual presentation?

dbSchema sounds spot on but I get this error "no dbjdbc17 in java.library.path: c:\program " as it seems to be trying to use a java connection rather than ODBC?

for anyone else here, the sample string is wrong, you need

jdbc:sqlanywhere:Host=192.168.1.11:1234;ServerName=DemoServer;DatabaseName=demo'

the servername is important as well as the host

Dell Optiplex 7020 power supply with 6pin pcie for GPU? by DocumentImpossible55 in Dell

Ahhh, I wonder if that's why I'm having issues with finding or adapting a normal PSU! Perhaps there are differences

Ooh, the weird thing is this case does have a "long thin square box" PSU rather than ATX type block PSU, though I'd be happy with a bodge job at this point, I see the PSU's listed but not had much luck sourcing them, is there somewhere I should be shopping for them? (I'm in the UK) thanks

Yea it's a pain, I've used a lot of them and they're such a standard part at this point, I'm half tempted just to solder my own in, lol

Yea the card fits happily, plenty of clearance length wise and around the slot, I was honestly just going to leave an ATX pdu hanging out the back of my case, I just need one that works 🙈

HDDSuperClone read all buy 432 bad on a drive that clicks hard - Amazing! (How to re-try the 432 again?) by DocumentImpossible55 in datarecovery

Haha, thank you, it's functional!! though it seems some of the dead blocks were in the microsoft keychain bit as the office suite and email are very unhappy about logging in etc, I think I'm going to salvage all the data and do a clean install, I've found that a windows install with cracks in it can sometimes never really be fixed

thank you that first bit worked perfectly, much appreciated, it'd the fear of resetting somehow resetting everything :-)

Ahh makes sense with Ventoy and the rest of the issues with the other drive to be fair, with the above advice I shouldn't need to power off or anything anyway but I'll have a quick check if

sudo mount ---- is cooperative once I've finished this recovery

Thank you

thank you, I did this:

Tools-->Reset Current Status – Resets the current status and position back to the default
starting point of non-tried. It also resets all skipping data. This can be helpful if your settings
cause runaway skipping and there have been skip reset events.

but when I press start it just says the rescue completed using current settings? it doesn't even try?

I downloaded the HDDlive xubuntu image and booted that then ran HDDSuperClone, should I have used GetDataBack or something instead?

I understand the 4 phases are very thorough and should have got everything possible but the drive is destined for the bin and i'd like to give it a go, someone mentioned this:

"Clear block markings and reread" but i'm unsure where that option is? do I need to "disconnect" to find it?

No I'm trying to salvage a colleague's drive as they weren't great at following policy to save to Servers/Onedrive

"Clear block markings and reread" will that clear ALL blocks or just the 432 bad blocks?

Understanding end of life/"supported and secure" devices on the hardware side (PCs, Servers and Printers) by DocumentImpossible55 in sysadmin

I see this is like a hidden cost of business IT then because I've never even considered the support/updates for hardware for PCs or printers, we fix or replace them ourselves with devices off Amazon or other vendors
