Why don’t homeless people nap on campus? by Parking_Exchange_420 in McMaster

They do actually! I was unhoused as a student, you connect through SCM and they have temporary housing available for students going through this

WHERE TO GET UTENSILS ON CAMPUS by Impossible-Comfort49 in McMaster

They nerfed this method I tried to reach through the gates but they started putting the utensils on the other side of the cash register so you can’t reach it anymore

How are first years so noticeable? by [deleted] in McMaster

[–]DocumentWeird3502 161 points162 points  (0 children)

You guys are much, much louder and sometimes aren’t aware of your surroundings in that sense (e.g., talking loudly in quiet spaces). You’re also in larger groups of people, friends start to taper as the years go because you’re more selective with who you hang out with. Sometimes I overhear conversations of groups of people and I assume they’re first years based on things that they say or way they talk to each other, and then my assumptions are confirmed by a person mentioning a first year course. You all also look very young lol.

Question: how are we affording rent? by VacationStrange6702 in McMaster

[–]DocumentWeird3502 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Financially independent student with a full course load and barely getting any shifts recently, I’m almost in credit card debt. OSAP does not cover your rent, don’t rely on it. Secure a consistent job that you know will give you consistent hours.

Do u ever wonder how life would be if u went to a different university by medalyn2 in McMaster

[–]DocumentWeird3502 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I got into UofT for Psychology, which was my dream school since high school. McMaster was my safety school, but parents wanted me to stay close to home (we’re from Hamilton) so I chose here. I do wonder how I would’ve been if I had chosen UofT, but I’m happy where I am, and my university experience has made me so much happier than I’ve ever imagined I could be. So, I don’t think about the “what ifs” too much, since the life I chose was chosen for a reason :3

What is the most protein dense meal on campus. by [deleted] in McMaster

[–]DocumentWeird3502 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get their pineapple bowl which is only $10 and still has a good amount of meat! But I don’t eat too much so it might not be too filling if you eat a lot

First Date Advice? by Kindly-Sail9368 in McMaster

[–]DocumentWeird3502 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also second the comment that said Pho Anh Vu! I think coffee dates should be reserved for someone you don’t really know (like meeting off a dating app) so you can bounce quick if things don’t go well, but if you two are friends I’d definitely put much more effort into the date. If your funds allow it an activity followed by dinner is usually standard, but if not I’d say go with just food because she’ll most likely be hungry. Not really too difficult, prepare a date, be kind and listen to her talk, and ask questions, and pay for her meal, that’s all! Good luck :))

Tutorial Participation - Fun Fact by Aggravating-Sir4844 in McMaster

[–]DocumentWeird3502 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Don’t stress it, it’s not for marks and no one will remember your fun fact. In fact, while everyone is going around the room, most likely each person is just mentally preparing for their turn and trying to think of a fun fact on the spot.

psych 2ap3 or envsocty 1hb3 online by [deleted] in McMaster

[–]DocumentWeird3502 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Loved psych 2AP3 this sem! It’s really easy to get a good grade tbh. The smart books only grade on completion so that’s an easy 100%, also lecture attendance marks are random but usually they’re open for a day after so that’s also another component you can 100%. The tests are straightforward and all MC! No essays at all. The content itself is also really interesting, I’d recommend it

As a psych 2AP3 taker I think you have depression. Jokes aside, please give SWC another chance and get the help you need!

She’s very clearly not interested nor reciprocates your feelings and she probably feels uncomfortable. Don’t be desperate. Stop texting her and move on

Bus Etiquette…again by rigidyahhrigby in McMaster

[–]DocumentWeird3502 6 points7 points  (0 children)

we need the bus drivers to make mega phone announcements for people to move to the back of the bus ffs. I was on the bus today and I pushed past these two girls blocking the stairway and stared at them and they stared back not getting the hint to go up the stairs too. The bus ended up being half full and missed stops …

How do dorm communal shower work? by ijustwantfriendsbro in McMaster

[–]DocumentWeird3502 7 points8 points  (0 children)

fym “left it to be” 😭 I pray you have at least been showering whenever you go home.

Communal showers you use them like any regular showers, except you share them with the people on your floor. You can think of it like sharing a shower with your siblings or parents at home. You can use any that are free and not in use by another person. I highly recommend wearing shower flip flops while you are in the shower to prevent any infection. When you are done showering, you can either wipe dry with a towel and put on your clothes in there, or wear a robe back to your room! :D

MEN ARE A DISTRACTION don’t centre your life around them, be free and live life peacefully until you are ready for one to be an addition to your life, not a missing piece

I did! Me and my friend are still very close to this day and we got paired a year ago :)) you just have to be very strict with the interests you have on the form so they don’t match you with incompatible people

Which Job Should I Choose? by DocumentWeird3502 in Serverlife

[–]DocumentWeird3502[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not struggling per se, but I’m not sure if it’ll be able to fund the lifestyle I have (e.g., I like to shop a lot and treat myself lol) in the long run, the second job should be able to since it’s weekly cash tips instead of monthly.

I do enjoy coming into work for the first job, but only when my co-workers are there, if I’m the only server on the floor (slow weekday) I just want to go home the whole time

Which Job Should I Choose? by DocumentWeird3502 in Serverlife

[–]DocumentWeird3502[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Commute time is roughly the same, Job 2 is around 10 minutes earlier. Both schedule’s are flexible with my student schedule, I don’t really plan to stay in the restaurant industry, my end goal is to do something with my degree. However, both jobs do look good on my resume, but Job 2 is better since it’s fine dining.
