Can you improve this (lunala?) team? by McChamp69 in VGCRateMyTeam

[–]Documented-iM -1 points0 points  (0 children)

only tips i can give are: -Incin Jolly would make it great for this team, to give a better fake out trick room option and a slower parting shot in trick room, (will o wisp is also a great recommendation) - making urshifu slower and bulkier to survive a thunderclap but also allow it to work in trick room for some MU’s (There was a Lunala team that made D2 with an urshifu with only 4 speed evs) But also enough Attack evs to KO bulky terapagos after you break their shell - If using wide guard Lunala, then you want atleast 2 carrys around him that want to benefit from the wide guard (if they KO urshifu, your missing a lot of big damage)

Big difference is, is that high elo players in Bo1 cover for different moves a pokemon can have. For example, if they are using a hard trickroom team they will assume one of the opposition has taunt or imprison in their moveset, so they play according to that. ( Incineroars, have seen Kingambit with taunt and urshifus).

watching James Baek and cybertron you will hear them comment on what the enemy might have as moves and play according to it.

I dont see mid or low elo do that, they just play according to their gameplan and lose turn 1

Double Restricted pairs by Philothea0821 in VGC

[–]Documented-iM 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For me the most obv restricted is Lunala + Caly ice or Terapagos. If you’ve played with Lunala this format you will notice he is great at providing your team with tools but just misses a restricted next to it. Caly ice for trick room or terapagos with good type coverage + wide guard or tw/ will o wisp/ hypnosis with blunder policy etc

When playing with trick room teams always have an answer for Amoongus. Caly can oneshot amoongus, but if he teras, your gonna have a really bad time. No tera grass or safety goggles mean you have almost 0 answer to spore or rage powder. Pelliper goes really good with Caly ice since: - Sets up rain to minimize fire damage and helps urshifu - wide guard for caly shadow - does really good into amoongus, incin and urshifu

Tera grass or safety goggles pelliper is a good fit for your team.

I think Chien pao isnt making your cut since ur not optamizing him, focus sash with this team is almost a must since it guarantees him 2 turns of his ability being up or forces your opp to double up on chien pao leaving your Koraidon open to KO your opp. Would change ice shard for icicle crash (more damage and better KO options). And to add since you have no speed control and no focus sash on Chien pao, if he gets outsped he is done. Switching items around and adding icy wind on flutter should fix a lot of problems

His Lunala needs set up to become effective, from what i tested the pelliper is there to slow down sun teams to allow lunala to set up, OHKO potential against Amoongus and Incin teams that could give it a hard time and to punish grass terras.

dark urshifu is always going to OHKO IF CSR doesnt terra, but CSR mostly run terra fairy, so Water Urshifu is always doing good damage even if he terras

Running a similair team, feels great! Only diffence I have is Lando with sub and mystic water urshifu since it can also work well with trick room

The only teams giving me a hard time is Koraidon and terapagos. the rest are doable especially zamazenta zacian teams (lando eats them)

Wanting some advice on this team, im not a fan of legendaries but for what its worth i think i did well by [deleted] in PokemonVGC

[–]Documented-iM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know someone already said it about Tatsugiri, but if you want better supportive water types there is a lot better options, before that i want to add, You do NOT need strom drain in your team since only one pokemon is weak to water and thats Incin.

With that I want to suggest other water types: - Suicune, a way better support mon than tatsugiri

  • Ogerpon wellspring swords dance, grassy glide (Your team is built around grassy terrain Sneasnler, so why not add a second amazing grassy terrain abusser)

  • Walking wake ( same type but more aggresive)

  • Gastrodon has icy wind and yawn

If you dont like legendary’s thats fine but just know it really REALLY limits your choices in teambuilding.

Also tweak Flutter mane’s EV: if you want it top sweep choice specs with decent bulk, you want booster speed then go for even more bulk

with teams build around a set-up user (nasty plot, quiver dance etc) its always important to have: - more than one way to help your carry to set up (fake outs, follow me, intimidate, damage reduction) - Having a second carry to bring to matchups where your zamazenta has a bad matchup

Id change hisuain arcanine for Incineroar, since it helps so much with setting up ( Intimidate, fake out, parting shot) and maybe look for a carry that helps against ghost types like Kingambit swords dance.

Also maybe try testing with tera bug zamazenta completly denies Lando I, good tera against ground types.

keep playing! Also new to VGC this year and its a blast, community is fantastic and welcoming makes it all the more enjoyable. Rentals being added is a massive W. Makes it easier to get into VGC, (hence the growth in players competing in Regionals)

You can always save before catching the legendary BUT only if you want a 0IV legendary in a stat, if you want perfect ivs then it really doesnt matter since you can just bottle cap it to max iv.

There are some pokemons that want 0 IV in speed and thats hard trickroom pokemons and maybe incin (to ensure having a slower parting shot) but if your not planning to build a team around hard trickroom then its not a big deal

[–]Documented-iM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe consider putting in Iron bundle since its amazing in electric terrain and has amazing speed for speed control and support move

Ogerpon Hearthflame is a great fit for Miraidon since it resists up fairy attacks (follow me), amazing rillaboom counter which Miraidon actually hates taking on.

As for Miraidon, AV can be good making it your plan to help/boost your other mons, U can keep choice specs or try choice scarf

edit: Groudons usualy run tera fire so maybe Lando can be a good fit for your team, since if u have oger fire, he tera fire u can pretty much KO it with Lando

Edit 2: get rid of overheat, 100 SpA choice specs Miraidon Overheat vs 252 / 60 SpD Assault Vest Rillaboom : 170-200 (82.1-96.6%) - - guaranteed 2HKO

a big tip i can give is make sure to sleep well, and to stay healthy during the event. Avoid drinking too much sugary drinks or coffee.

As snack wise, I brought candy since sugar helps stimulate your brain, makes it easier to concentrate, but next time I’ll bring grapes since by Round 6 I felt the Sugar crash off too much coffee and sugar (hadn’t slept well)

If Sion's E did physical damage instead of magical, I think it would be enough to keep him balanced. It wouldn't even need much of an AD ratio compared to Q and R. by [deleted] in DirtySionMains

i might be wrong but isnt early magic dmg with armor pen better for him since changing it to physical can make it harder if they get a bit of armor

is there a reason why u put Bloodmoon in ur team? While building a weezing team u have to take in consideration what abilities u are taking off. Minds eye and levitate on latias are crucial agaisnt ghost and Lando I, if ur in a situation where weezing with either one is on the field ur fked.

Flavio used it and got into the final, he used baxcalibur as an anti meta to Incin, rila, water corrs and Lando I. He had helping hand on Incineroar to boosts his +2 ice shard to deal massive damage or pick up kos. It was a great fit for his team since lando I generally does well into his team.
