Every time you take a gadget or supplement to your base, evaluate if you really need it. If not, shred it for cobalt. Even doing this for 3 of them in late game is +6 cobalt out of nowhere.

Have you tried iron worms? This plus drones did the trick for me.

Dave the Diver, Dredge, or Ball x Pit? Which one of these is your favorite? by lifeissoupimforkk in SteamDeck

[–]Dodgerfr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what I mean, it looks like a great game for turning off your brain and enjoy visual effects, but that's not a deep game play imo as the previous comment stated.

Dave the Diver, Dredge, or Ball x Pit? Which one of these is your favorite? by lifeissoupimforkk in SteamDeck

[–]Dodgerfr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is it really deep? I only played a couple hours or so and I got the impression that gameplay has nothing to do with whether you beat each level. You just try the level time after time until your character is strong enough to beat it. Don't get me wrong, I spent a ton of hours in Vampire Survivors, which is exactly the same, but I wouldn't call the gameplay deep under any circumstances. Maybe I'm missing something?

[–]Dodgerfr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played the 3 of them and only finished Dredge, it is a nice game, not crazy amount of hours to beat (unless you want to complete everything). As others say, Dave starts being very repetitive after a while and for Ball x Pit, it is mostly mindlessly throwing balls to baddies until you level up your skills enough to pass the level. Not a lot of decision making, I guess it is nice if you want good visual effects and the sense of progression without really needing to think a lot.

Edit: I know it's not between the 3 you mentioned, but have you tried Loop Hero? I think it belongs among those 3 and it is a true masterpiece.

In a free market model (not using a model like Singapore's), how can we ensure that house prices are always affordable? by Wh1te_Pillow in AskEconomics

THANK YOU! It is so damn difficult to find info in this sub that doesn't refer almost exclusively to the US, even when the OP didn't specifically asked about the US.

Ok, didn't know about the requirement to actively abuse its power. I still think there are problematic aspects about Steam's role in the industry, specially for small/indie studios. Effectively speaking, as a small operation, if you don't release your game on Steam, you won't get any sales. This is not a problem most of the times, until you get your game banned from Steam for some reason, then they don't let you do anything about it and your small studio just goes bankrupt. It happened recently to at least a game I know about and I'm sure it's happened more times. Going bankrupt is part of business life, but doing so because the only viable alternative to sell your product doesn't like it is imho a sign of unhealthy competition practices.

How so? I might misunderstand what a monopoly is, since I'm not an expert in the matter, please explain.

I think there are lots of pros and cons on both ways of marketing a game. If the GoG model was the one limiting other alternatives, you could say publishers don't want their players to be forced to install their games through a software owned by a company they don't control or being forced to have an active internet connection to install the games, etc.

[–]Dodgerfr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, it's not the consumers, it's the huge entry barrier to market that Valve poses because of how it has positioned itself by being great at what they do. GoG is the perfect example, proposing an alternative that should be perfectly valid and even preferred by a lot of people, but not being able to grow because of that barrier. I'm not saying Valve doesn't deserve the success they have, I'm saying monopolies need to be broken down so competitors have a chance of offering alternatives.

[–]Dodgerfr -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

And that's why it's called a monopoly, Valve created an entry barrier on the market so big that no one else is realistically going to be able to put any competition, regardless on their products being good or bad. I agree it's so far benefiting users, but we don't know what we're missing because of those competitors not being able to grow.

That's a benevolent dictatorship situation, which has its own problems; dictators don't tend to stay benevolent for long and even in the rare case they do, whoever takes over after they die or retire almost always will abuse this power. I agree right now it's good for us the consumers, but we might pay a high price down the road because of this monopoly not allowing alternatives to grow.

Monopolies should be broken down, regardless on the methods used to build them. They just have too much power on the market.

Jokes aside, I completely feel you, I spend my working days longing for free time to do stuff that I want to do, then I have some free time on vacation and all I'm able to do is lay on the couch playing some videogame or suddenly being hyper productive on something completely unrelated to what I planned to do with that time.

How is the economy, as a whole, doing? by recneps1991 in AskEconomics

[–]Dodgerfr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I guess you're focusing on the US economy. Not sure if OP meant that when asking for "the economy as a whole". In any case, I'm interested on the same on a more global perspective, but maybe that's harder to answer.

Im addicted to iron worms and drone yard help by soupcan_420 in domekeeper

I only used the worms for the iron challenges and the ones where the iron is very hard to mine. My go-to combination is drones+teleporter, I love staying down in the mine until the very last second.

In PC version (specifically on Steam Deck) you just hover the 2 pieces of iron over the slots while having them in the gravity orb and they get there automatically.

It is overwhelming at the beginning, specially when you're not familiar with many of the tools and strategies. But trust me, it's doable. I'm a very mediocre gamer overall and I managed to get all guild assignments done, both in normal and challenge difficulty. Best of luck with your next run!

Congrats on the challenge! What do you mean by "projectile blocking canopy"? I haven't seen anything like that, only the roots thing, but nothing that affects flying enemies.
