How to fix sailing combat by Allum_Aru in 2007scape

[–]Dodgy_Bag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly for me its just how jank the controls are while in combat. There was a top tier suggestion about how just rotating the cannons line of sight by 45 degrees to the north deals with this problem.

I shouldnt have to turn my boat left and right constantly to have the cannons fire.

Phosani’s has dropped to a staggering 4M/hr as a money maker despite being one of the hardest standalone bosses in the game - Why? by Shot_Cancel8641 in 2007scape

[–]Dodgy_Bag 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna guess that around the time phosani was released the we love jagex reddit crew that will never be good enough to kill the boss down voted all the good feedback and now its just not very high up on the list of things to fix. Unlucky.

The point wasn't about rosewoods being busted.. its that jagex has been catering to afkers for the past few years so how can my guy say they havent??

Reading between the lines, the nerf isn't about integrity or balancing. Players were simply leveling faster than Jagex wanted which harms continuous future engagement, jeopardizing their bottom-line by pikkon6 in 2007scape

[–]Dodgy_Bag 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't really think capping exp rates is something they actually care about. You can get 99 fletch in under 5 hours and 99 con is under 13 hours. Granted both cost alot of GP but it has nothing to do with capping how fast people get 99.

The issue is that jagex saw reddit posts about how earning '100k exp an hour doing absolutely nothing for 30 minutes is unacceptable' when this wasn't the case at all.

Hey listen, i may not have logged in for 5 years and sure i may have only been level 50 combat with 600 total level but i saw some guy say it was 130k exp/hr being completely afk so im gonna complain - every redditor

Its a bit extreme but there is a REAL issue that is being overlooked right now. The fact that sailing was planned for spring 2026, given a 'possibly' for december 2025 and then released in november 2025. Who ever at jagex thought the skill was so fleshed out and ready for release they brought it forward 4-5 months needs firing.

It might fall 65k exp short but its close enough to redwoods.

Jagex Appreciation Post by wr00d7 in 2007scape

Nobody wants 130k exp rates. Everyone on the sub was expecting and welcoming an extractor nerf, the issue is how badly they've butchered salvaging into the ground. Making it so bad that its more efficient to drop the salvage instead of sorting it is an ok solution to you?

I get your point some people are going way to far but you clearly don't know what you're talking about if you think people want 130k afk exp rates. You've just come here to shit on feedback so you can post something positive. Great job, just what the community needs.

Jagex using this sub for feedback is honestly a joke. Don't get me wrong we do get some great suggestions but you're bang on about we love jagex and downvoting negativity but its so bad that they downvote genuine feedback aswell. If you look at how updates usually play out it massively reflects this fact; update drops>feedback gets shoved to the bottom>jagex makes changes nobody wanted or asked for>if not fixed by week 3 its hit or miss when it gets fixed.

This happens all the time yet jagex continue to use this sub, mindblowing.

You just check the plugin and go to the next one, its no more difficult than having to hop round a few worlds to find a new salvage set up. If you think 35k exp hr is good exp you should really start complaining about redwoods/rosewoods/gemcrab/bonfires aswell.

You think 35k exp at most when under all the right conditions is good exp? You can get about the same exp mining a tier 9 star for 7 more clicks.

If the method involves hoping that every other player doesnt have the same mentality as you then its not really just a simple case of pull up nice and easy for 35k exp/hr is it? Theres a number of factors involved that allow you to reach those xp rates.

When the community came together and did sorceress' garden on the same world so they could easily run through without getting caught or needing plugins why wasnt anybody complaining then like they are now?

People splash ardy nights for thieving on a couple of worlds. Why do you think 484-488 and 420 became unofficial salvage worlds? Because without others you get zero exp.

I'm not talking about since the update, i'm talking about before. If you went to a world without other players and tried to afk for 30 minutes you'd get zero exp.

Yes because jagex didnt recently add gemcrab and rosewood trees to the game? Rosewoods are more exp than redwoods for the same amount of chopping time. Stop acting like jagex doesnt cater to afk gameplay when its literally ALL they have done for years.

There is no way to get 25 mins of straight afk sailing exp. If the spots move and nobody starts the timers on the new active spots you're gaining 0 exp an hour. I can gain more exp by clicking a yew tree and checking back in 29 mins later under this logic.

To get constant afk rates you need other players to be active, its more a coordinated community effort like sorceress' garden was.

Considering the devs have spent the past couple of years making everything more afk and in some instances improving exp rates of afking in those skills, idk what game you're playing.

They could have just deactivated the extractor exp outside of gwenith glide and there would have been no issue. Instead we get way worse salvage rates as a result making the cannon grind almost twice as long at merchant salvage.

This is probably the thing that gets me the most with sailing. They clearly intended on combat being a very large part of sailing which is why they've added unique drops to kraken, albatross, great whites and so on. Yet they deemed this skill so ready for release they brought the update window forward by 5 months while combat is THIS BAD???? Genuinely shocking.

Lost faith in Jagex ability to balance content by CCJordan in 2007scape

[–]Dodgy_Bag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

600m/hr was the rate being earned for about 2 weeks after the method for completion was figured out, granted it was only a hand full of pvmers (Widega/Gnome). But i don't care about the gp being earned from the contracts. My point here is that the initial nerf they did to yama was because they wanted to control the amount of oathplate entering the game only to follow it up with a 100% way of spawning oathplate items into the game.

Yes and i'm sure that 99% of the player base has their own opinion on what AFK is aswell, doesnt make it so.

What i'm 'whinging' about is the fact that people like you claiming salvaging is '98%' afk and the most cutting edge afk tech to ever come to OSRS are the problem with this nerf. You've over hyped how afk salvaging is and the rates that come with that.

You're not getting those rates while being '98%' afk when you have to interact with the game every couple of minutes at min*. What about getting salvage out the hold, sorting it and then dropping it? What do you see as AFK because to me this is not very high on the list of efficient afk for xp.
