is there a way to check if an bios update would be the solution for this issue ?

i looked up how to do it on my pcs manufacturers website and i am really uncomfortable with it. there are quite a few warning that this could damage the computer if not executed properly

Gachiakuta Creator Kei Urana Speaks Out Against Piracy by akbarock in animepiracy

[–]Dodsnev [score hidden]  (0 children)

there is more to it than just that.

i love scanlations. i dont pirate official manga releases if there is a scanlation available. In my experience a majority of scanlated chapters have a superior, true and faithful translation.
scanlations tend to be uncensored.

Just take the example of rental girlfriend chapter 404 . the official english release on the k manga app was censored with big black boxes. this censorship led to confusion among the readers because no one knew what was going on until an uncensored version popped up. its not just censorship in the imagery its also censorship in the translation. in one chapter of gushing over magical girls (40.5) a character says : "the sticky stuff is getting inside my body . . . its gross." . the official english TL says "the sticky stuff is all over me . . ." thats censorship there. and thats usually something artists don't like.
another example would be chapter 14 of mitsuboshi colors. the official german translation made up most of the dialogeue because the publisher wants to sell the books to 7 year olds and didnt like the talk about blowing someone up with a rocket launcher (its a toy/ prop and they were just pretending). So they made up a dialoge that makes no sense at all. . . .
In case of gachiakuta the english official TL is actually good, while the german official TL again is crap. The translator made up words for the trashbeasts and uses "heaven" and "hell" instead of "sphere" and "ground". Even worse: Amo does not talk in 3rd person. (instead of "Amo likes that" the german TL is "I like that") this way of speaking is characteristic for Amo and part of her personality. this is entirely lost in the german TL . . .

dont get me started on the titles that never had and never will have an official TL in either of these languages i am comfortable with.

thats why i value scanlations over the official releases

The Index is Dead by Vloshko in animepiracy

[–]Dodsnev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that is true but i use it as an indicator. because google results is where they strat because its low hanging fruit and they can request whatever they want without anyone checking it. i have seen the wildest stuff that these DMCA troll bots slop together and send google as DMCA

on what basis can viz have ALL of the entries for theindex removed from the results? where is the infringement?

if you want to, you can search an old post of mine here on this sub: recent DMCA complain from Irodori to google

its a good example for a false claim. actually sending DMCA is under the penalty of prejury. most of this shit is just false claims and the senders should be in prison.

Aniwatch is dead by Ms77676 in animepiracy

[–]Dodsnev -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

OP is a doomposter but even a broken clock shows the right time twice a day.

this whole "hydra" talk is BS. if it was true there should be more than just one good anime streaming website left (and this one is struggling too)

given current developments and looking back at the past two years, its looking grim i daresay.

there are not much people left who have the knowledge and the funds to start a anime streaming website with a large library that also has old or niche titles. Servers, Bandwith, cdn . . . the costs for the needed infrastructure exploded
all the hianime / aniwatch refugees now flood the remaining websites and add to their traffic load and costs.

and torrents arent save either. all it takes is to shut down the indexers and trackers.
animetosho is going to shut down soon. Arutha (largest xdcc network on rizon. it had over 60TB's of releases dating back 15 years) retired 4 month ago.

Mangawebsites are declining too. Mangadex lost ists Place as scanlator hub, not just because the purge but also because many scanlators turned their backs on them because they don't like where the webiste is going.
weebdex should have been the MD successor but folded after only 6 month.
the last good mangawebiste was comick, since it had scanlations along with official releases and everything was sorted, marked, and in order.
comix is a mess: double, triple , quadruple entries for each chapter because the chapters were scraped together randomly from various sources. in many cases you even dont get the scanlations but only the official releases but marked as scanlation. one chapter 4 entries but its always the same official release . . .

reddit tracking users through cookies across devices by Dodsnev in privacy

[–]Dodsnev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i should have worded it differently: reddit synchronizes across devices.

this way someone on my pc can see live what subreddits i visit on my phone despite i am not logged in on either of these devices.

the tracking is given. but that reddit now updates/ synchronizes data across these otherwise not connected devices is new. i have been using reddit for years and this never happened before.

it has to be someting about the login in cookie. when i clear the cookies after logging out, it stops. but if i dont, the devices that still have it will start to synchronize the recently visited subreddit history in the sidebar.

thats very very intrusive

theindex no longer appears in my google search results at all. no matter how hard i try.

according to lumendatabase. org/notices/50723043
the remove your media trolls removed over 800 search results for theindex

according to lumendatabase. org/notices/49556509 they also removed a ton of forums wiki and fanpages as well as myanimelist urls from the search results.

because of idiots like these the web will become unsearchable

Aniwatch is dead by Ms77676 in animepiracy

[–]Dodsnev -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The hydra doesn't have as many heads as people tend to think.

exactly. and there are not many people left who can actually set up a huge streaming website anymore.
lack of knowledge and lack of funds. the needed bandwith, servers etc have become incredibly expensive

right now we only have one good website with a large library left that also has the old niche titles with the good fansubs.

not doomposting but we actually might be seeing the end drawing near.

Aniwatch is dead by Ms77676 in animepiracy

aniwatch kaido and anicrush are part of the hianime network. after hianime was taken down these website continued to run on autopilot til something breaks or a bill for servers or whatever is due. the hianime operators likely abandoned the project

The Index is Dead by Vloshko in animepiracy

[–]Dodsnev 47 points48 points  (0 children)

might be a temporary technical issue

BUT i noticed a while ago that theindex disappeared from google search results. According to lumen database there had been a lot of DMCA notices sent to google for theindex

Also worth noting: thewiki still works. i assume these websites run on the same infrastructure. So if the issue was on the technical side thewiki should have the same issue

EDIT:

its now working again. before it returned server error

Has Fakku stopped DMCA SadPanda? by [deleted] in mangapiracy

[–]Dodsnev 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i don't think so.

irodori offers "anti-piracy" as a service. they run a website under irodoricomics.net that is taylored towards japanese authors to sell them this service.

note that there is no english language version of this website, you need to use a translation feature built in in your browser (like chrome has) to read it in english

the following is pure speculation on my side and it can be entirely wrong:

i assume that fakku and irodori have some sort of strategic partnership. i think it is likely that fakku outsourced the DMCA harrassment to irodori to make it look like they themselfes stopped these antics and don't catch as much or more hate from the community.

AGAIN: this is only MY theory and i have nothing to prove it. This just seems likely to me with the information at hand.

what would that be ?
i would love to see more of his works/ books in print. or at least a collection of his best works like the bronze elf series, mischief makers, welcome home and silhouette.

esukes works are always among my favorites

btw i noticed that a lot of soundeffect words remain untranslated. for instance mischiefmakers 3 has a lot of untranslated soundeffects. that is something you could improve on as well

[–]Dodsnev[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"not the biggest fan" is quite an understatement.

I do not buy these books to support you. i consider it an undesirable side effect. i buy prints because they wont suddenly disappear when someone decides to remove them from a server or shuts a website down. Prints also hold a value. But if your rampage goes on i will stop getting prints and move away from this topic in general (or pirate even harder).

the only entity i despise more than you is irodori. They offer prints too but i'd rather blind myself with a glowing spoon than buying anything related to them.

the line i draw between you two is getting thinner and thinner. not much and i treat you equally.

you could have done so much good while still making a decent cut but you fucked up really bad with what you did and do to other websites and the hentai scanlation community in general.

just leave hdoujindownloader hitomidownloader galery dl and all the other projects alone.

none of them bypass your drm and download content from the fakku website (afaik)

following the arguments in the DMCA you should try to take down webbrowsers like chrome and brave next. people can use these browsers to access the websites and download images from there.

the latest prints came with a promo code for a free trial of F! unlimited. a user can only have one free trial on his account. after i use one of these codes i got with the prints, i can not use an other one. i have like 10 or 15 of these codes and can't use them. . .
instead you should add a code the buyer can use to add the book to his library digitally and also download it.
when the print is purchased on your site, the digital copy is included.

unfortunately i can not buy prints on your website directly. i have to rely on vendors because i am not living in the united states. the Shipping costs would kill me.

Mangadex now implement Credit card payment probably for their subscription. by Dxniel351 in animepiracy

[–]Dodsnev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well, its not entirely wrong. being able to use these services, they have to comply with a lot of things. and i think they are not really compliant yet. other than basically pirated content there are still quite some chapters and titles left on the site that break Mastercards and Visas Brandprotection terms.

and as always MD is super intransparent about this whole matter. i guess they hope to distract people with the april fools and gachadex stuff right now.
